It should be important to know that fewer than half high school students drive a vehicle to school. Putting a ground-level pedestrian crossing across a four lane highway plus a turning lane doesn't make a lot of sense, plus it is not good long-range planning for when that corridor becomes an interstate highway. Likewise, an overhead pedestrian walk would have to be engineered with the interstate in mind or it would have to be re-made later. A survey of the high school students might be shed some light on the best solution. ...

You are going to get people killed fix the fence. The only way would be to build a overhead bridge for people. Once 69 goes in it will be like a turtle at the 500 to walk across. I think we need to use common sense in stead of studies that waste money, No intersection coming onto 37 from high school would ever be safe that again is a no brainer. ...

I'd like them to take a look at the Burton Lane/37 intersection also. It seems extremely narrow when you are on Burton and attempting to turn on the highway. ...

I think the best solution would be an overhead walkway bridge, similar to what they have in Bloomington. That would keep all pedestrians safe. The one in Bloomington is entirely encased in mesh wire so that would eliminate the problem of juveniles throwing objects off of the overpass. I do agree that having a way to turn straight into the high school from the highway would be a bonus. There is no convenient way to get there. ...

This is very much needed and Im glad to see this getting the attention it needs. To add to this, the intersection of SR 37 and Ohio St also sees a great deal of pedestrian/bicycle traffic due to the high number of apartment dwellers who live in the area and have no way to travel except on foot. Ive witnessed many people trying to race across on a green light, but with traffic turning in both directions, people on foot or on bicycles are often narrowly missed by a vehicle turning right or left with pedestrians just out of their line of sight. Hopefully this intersection will one day also receive some attention before someone gets hurt. ...

It is needed, but will be a can of worms opening as people will race out of Walmart/Grand Valley and race west on South or Gray or even Illinois Streets.Someone is going to get hit there if some solution isnt solved.Its the only way some folks can get to the Center from the city as they have to walk or ride bikes.
