Top ten percent of earners paid 70 percent of federal income taxes. 49 percent of U.S. households paid no federal income tax. Current corporate tax rate is 35 percent. The economy would improve if the rate was lowered ( to 25 %). The "Tea" in Tea Party stands for "taxed enough already". Those in the Tea Party are taxpayers. I was unaware the American Dream was made possible by Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, student loans, and much more.

Recipients worthy of help?
Annie Thursday, July 28, 2011: 12:26 pm	These people live off the tax dollars I pay every year. I am capable of spending this money in more productive ways than paying for these government benefits. The recipients need to be held accountable for their behavior. I do not need to apologize because someone has different opinions than I have, or because someone might be offended by what I say.

I don't know all the facts, but I know this about the Martinsville Police Department: They have always been professional, courteous, and treated me respectfully, and I don't even live in Martinsville.

I know, because I have accounts with both utilities, and am grateful that Martinsville Water charges such REASONABLE rates!!!
