Maybe some of you wouldn't feel so sorry for him if you knew that he sued his aunt, whom is in her 80's; maybe her 90's, for rights to the Dillenger name, family items, etc. Things he has done are shameful!

Wow, I try to give Martinsville the benefit of the doubt when I read and hear all the ignorant things that happen there by residents, but your comments make it very hard. I am sure most of Martinsville's residents are fine people & they would probably wish you would move to another county! Not sure why you feel the way you do about the residents of Mooresville (it's not us that make the media all the time about our stupid actions) but thank God we will never have to put up with your stupidity even passing through our town, let alone living here.

Doesn't seem to me that Mr. Vanwanzeele & other administration, if they were involved, handled this situation very well. Seems to me that administration holds different standards for the students & parents that are willing to get along & work with administation and those that might cause problems. If this had been a student and parents that would have caused the school problems, he probably would have been allowed to go ahead & wear the kilt. This same kind of instance happened to my child in school & we did the same thing we had our child change clothes also.

Kudos to you Liberty. Seems you have uncovered alot of the truth into what has happened to Officer Tom Whitley. To all of you who commented above & judged Tom when you don't know the facts, you aren't worth my time to even address you, & my guess would be you probably have met the police in a professional nature hence your responses. I will correct one bit of fiction in the above comments....no innocent people spent one day in jail because of Officer Whitley.............he only put drug selling scum in jail & unfortunately now that they set him up they freely run the streets of our town selling drugs to our children. Tom Whitley was one of the best police officers this town has ever had & the truth will be printed some day. He did what he did to protect his CI who unfortunately set him up & the tests he didn't perform on the substances are not permissable in court they have to be sent to the state police labs. These criminals could still have been charged with selling look alike substances, but the Prosecutor didn't see fit to do that instead he set them all free. That's what we should be appalled about as far as the justice system goes. Some of the substances sent away did come back as drugs, so it is even more absurd.
Tom Whitley is a strong Christian man that turned himself in, when he realized that he was set up, & I trust would trust him with my life.

Is it a proven fact that the "substances" that were sent away for testing came back as "not illegal drugs"? I couldn't agree with you more Cuda. Someday the whole truth about this story and Mr. Whitley will be printed in this paper, so don't be so quick to judge him on what has been printed so far.

I have a feeling from reading "A Hoosier's" posts on this article & others that they would not hold their child/children accountable & would think that their child/children should be tried as a juvenile until they were 17 years 364 days old. It's always been easier not to parent than it is to be an involved parent.

A Hoosier said: Very sad that we as a society allow this, criminally charging children as adults.

This 15 year old young man was at school though he had been expelled. He posted some questionable comments on Facebook. He took a gun with him to the school. He shot the other young man 2 times. He had previously been in trouble with the law. All of this seems to be premeditated to me and that he knew exactly what he was doing. I am glad the prosecutor is doing his job instead of using the easy way out letting this young man be tried as a juvenile. Maybe if all parents held their children accountable for doing wrong & punished them, horrible things like this wouldn't happen.

If this form is to keep attendees at the fair safe then I think it is a great thing. I am sure many of the carnival employees couldn't sign it, if it requires that you can't be convicted of a crime. Seems to me that if you didn't have something to hide that you wouldn't have a problem signing the form.

Unfortunately Brooklyn is becoming as corrupt as Martinsville! Brooklyn has an honest, hard working Town Marshal and some people are too ignorant to appreciate him and it is probably because of the color of his skin. I hope the intelligent residents of Brooklyn come out and support Marshal Chris Hester and show the ignorant people in your town that you are not going to stand by and watch them get rid of a great Town Marshal. Some residents of Brooklyn don't deserve such a fine young man to serve their town.

Former Mooresville officer Whitley charged
LovesMooresville
Tuesday, July 6, 2010: 1:29 pm
Liberty,
That article states exactly what has happened to Sgt. Whitley. He was an excellent police officer who was ridding our streets of drug scum, he got set up, and now his brass at his department have turned their backs on him. He also made the county prosecutor & a county judge mad with a letter he sent them about Mr. Mayfield getting off completely free on his drunk driving charge & this is their payback to him.
Prayerfully Sgt. Whitley will prevail in all of this injustice! God bless him & his family.
Officer in Taser incident requests retirement
LovesMooresville
Thursday, July 1, 2010: 3:50 pm
If Officer Jennings has supposedly committed dismissable actions for years, as so many of you claim, why hasn't he been fired before now. If he has been a police officer for 36 years he hasn't just been employed under 1 mayor and 1 board, so all of these accusations about him are hard to believe. I think it is just people who disrespect all police authority casting stones. I don't believe any one of you who are claiming the police officers did wrong was present during this incident, so none of us can say what should have been done since none of us were there. People call for the police when they can't handle situations then they complain how the police take care of things. No SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) were violated, so these officers will probably file suits if they are forced into retirement or disciplined and I can't say that I would blame them.
What is going to happen the next time this child or another child is so out of control that those with them can't control them.....I will tell you........they will call the police and then they will complain about the police. I am so glad I don't live in Martinsville because it seems to be a city full of hypocrites!

King, DePoy seeking school board seat
LovesMooresville
Friday, April 30, 2010: 9:20 am
Mrs. DePoy was hand picked by Ron Wright, Dave Davis & Randy Davis to hopefully replace Ron Wright so she could now vote with Dave (they are assuming Dave will be re-elected) & Randy and they would still have the majority vote on this 5 person board. A 5 person board with 2 of the 5 being brothers is ridiculous and needs to stop with election! Vote Bill Roberson & Perry King!
Morgan County voters: Are you informed?
LovesMooresville

If you want to get rid of the good old boy system then you should vote for Mae Cooper not Peggy Mayfield. If Mrs. Mayfield is so honest then she should have insisted her husband, Dean, take his punishment for his DUI just like Mr. Furniss has done, instead of their lawyer getting the charges dismissed because her buddies in the prosecutors office didn't do their job. Just because your wife is a county employee doesn't mean you should be able to drive drunk and endanger innocent people. When Mr. Mayfield seriously injures or kills someone I'm not sure how those responsible for his case will be able to look at themselves in the mirror.
