Danny Stewart,

Don't patronize me over anonymity Jimbob! If my content means nothing then why do you two consistently bring up the subject of anonymity?...or respond to comments from those postings in that manner?...It's rather apparent that something I am saying seems to be bothering you YOU OBVIOUSLY CARE!!! I couldn't care less who anyone is commenting, as this forum is mainly here for the enjoyment for those who frequent it! I seem to have vivid memories of several current and former elected officials responding a wide range, of anonymous and identified posters alike.

This is here this available regardless if your warped mind believes myself, or others deserve it or not. This isn't a Watergate scandal with people running around aimlessly trying to figure out who deep throat is! GET OVER IT!

Yes, I am a very sarcastic, suspicious, cynical individual!
You see...Danny...It used to be when one had something to say it was tactfully and socially required that you have at least a vague idea as to what you are talking about...Congratulations for being so open about who you are when you say your inconclusive, baffling, fictitious ramblings. That has advanced your name in the political arena in the area of votes....which is something you obviously lack.

Yeah...Ron seems to impress me with his cordial, well mannered approach on things ...someone I'd like to go fishing with! Of course so am I for that matter :(

I know people will say I'm nut but it certainly appears they just keep feeding the system to sustain it just as they do all parts of government like the union/government schools.

How in the world does someone go from talking about a house fire to Union/government schools???

Unbelievable!

Liberty.....

You still don't get it do you? Are you really that dense? You have a blame and an excuse for everything. It had nothing to with "God's" name, protesting teachers on the square, I was addressing your idiocy NOT THE CONTENT of your message! This blog isn't for you either, so stop hogging the board and using it for your own political agenda.

You know, I bet you would be all about the government shutting down if the Liberals had control and were going to legalize gay marriage and the conservatives skipped town and protests came of it. Then YOU would be all for it shutting down the government. Where did that come from anyways? My wife does the same thing when we argue, she drags up something else off subject to try to turn the tables on me.

Bottom line, I don't recall anyone praising you, agree with your stuff, or you ever having a positive rating for your comments. I know enough people have complained about you over time. So...take a hint. I'm done

I heard that Sunny!

Liberty,

I disagree with your position on education and Unions. You have no basis, no facts, only cut and paste theories put together to persuade people to see your OPINION on things. I have the exact opposite position as you, and I don't get on here everyday spouting off crap, long winded annoying posts that I have to scroll past to see what is going on with folks in my town, and I might miss it because of your non-sense. You are a fanatic and do nothing but anger and agitate people. It's fine for you to feel the way you do but give it a rest will ya, it's beyond old. Do you really think people listen to you? With your behavior you sound like a propagandist or one of those crazy end of the world people with a blow horn, and a sandwich board yelling at people on the street, you don't listen to em, you automatically know they are nuts and walk right past them and think to yourself "Man that was annoying".

So for the love of god, knock it off please.

Mr. Doug Arthur,

You said:
To give exact answers to your questions, I feel they have to be studied in great detail by many talented people of this community. I don’t want to give a quick, off-the-top-of-my-head answer because I wouldn’t approach these issue in that manner.

Really? I know you have good ideas, because I've heard you say them! It's funny how some of the things you suggested and ideas you've pointed out in the past people are heading in that direction and taking credit for it now. I know you're willing to work with others and pool the opinions together and sift through the B.S. to get the best solution for everybody.

You'll get no boos from me for being humble Mr. Arthur. I don't care who has raised the most money from their cronies or kissed the most babies. I hope like heck you win this election and win the next one after that! The older I get the less patient I'm becoming with the same ole political rhetoric around town.

Wow. Hmmmm. Some good points here.

It's a mixed up world out there. I think maybe because it has become less accepted to discriminate against a race or religion, people have to find a new minority to discriminate against like Union members. My dues haven't done a thing to hurt anyone yet I hear the nonsense. Oh well some people aren't happy unless they can target a certain group of people.

It gets old being told I'm under worked, overpaid, lazy, greedy, incompetent, and a theif all because I have a union card in my wallet. This sometimes comes from the very people I serve and live next door to. I'm tired of people that have no business in union affairs what so ever wanting legislation passed to limit my benefits and pay. I'm tired of the bosses coming around toward the end of the contract telling us that at 12:01am they are going to lock us out if we don't submit to their wishes. I'm tired of us being blamed for the state of the economy.

To wrap up this rambling, I'm sick and tired of flat out being sick and tired.

Well Liberty, I can tell you this much from what I do know. I am a member of a Union and if I don't do my job and do it right, I get written up, then if I do it again I get fired. I've been there for years, have put forth an effort everyday, and feel like I earn my pay. I had a supervisor so to speak who had it out for me, and if it weren't for the Union I am sure he would have found an excuse to let me go. Thank God he left. I feel that I have skills and value, and I don't steal my paycheck. I work 40 sometimes more hours a week to earn it. I have a contract with my employer. I receive no more then what that contract states that I get. It's no different then a firm handshake and an agreement between two people. Only this way it's legally bound. They agreed to it, and I agreed to it. So I don't understand where the theft is involved. When there is a dispute that is what arbitration is for. Management is still management the Union doesn't run anything, or hire or discharge anybody. The company doesn't pay the Union, me and my co-workers do. That sir, is as honest as it gets.

There are many great non-union companies out there. If you treat your employees right, they will never organize. It's that simple.

As to your complaints with schools......... Public schools, charter schools, home schools, there are good and bad teachers in both, along with good and bad parents. It takes both good teachers and good parents to get anything out of a kid these days. It doesn't just depend on the teacher.

You can't pin down problems in schools and society to one group of people, which in your case is the Unions. Adolf Hitler did that and look what happened to the Jews.

Liberty, you are going to have to face the hard fact of life that Society is flat out messed up. It's bad parenting, lack of morals, lack of respect for one another, and selfish people. A lot of these kids are more interested in cell phones, video games, and clothes, and drugs rather then planning a future for themselves.

Now Liberty, you need to slow down, take a deep breath and really consider what you're saying. It's nice that you care about kids, it really is. It's just getting old pal.

By the way I guess the link that I found was older then the one you had.

Liberty,

Look at this statistic, from wikipedia...

"The US Bureau of Labor Statistics most recent survey indicates that union membership in the US has risen to 12.4% of all workers, from 12.1% in 2007."

Where are you getting your information from? None the less that still a small percentage. Why is it that non-union workers, businesses, and governments feel threatend by such a small minority of people.

I know first hand how government wastes money by the hundreds of thousands and millions. If Wisconsin and Indiana want to save money why not look at some of the idiotic projects they throw money at without looking back and clean them up before they ask their employees to take a cut in wages?

Just my take on it.

I think this is a fun and great idea! I would even go to it if they were having it on a dirt track at the fairgrounds. I think it adds a little uniqueness being downtown. There certainly are a lot of questions and concerns, but I would compare it to the Fall foliage festival and parade. We will see how it does the first year, and if things go good, then I hope we will have it annually. Martinsville could use some more different ideas like this.

Entertaining and profitable for the city all in one.

To the point,

Politics is a shady business. You can't expect them to come clean if they were pressured, bought, or persuaded into choosing a particular candidate. I am willing to state the obvious, and ask a few rhetorical questions from your post. Do you believe that Vickie Kivett ever thought about voting for someone else in the recent caucus? Do you think she listened to any of her constituents? Or that she didn't have any influence in the outcome? SLB and Doug do not get along from what I have witnessed. Yet another a former opponent and future opponent. It's not that hard to do the math on it.

Have you ever heard of a television show entitled "conspiracy theories"? It compelled me to think the following,

That you are involved in a conspiracy, working under the influence of Mitch Daniels and his administration to rally support for his educational bills. I would even take it a step further and say they have at least one per local news outlet across the state. Am I anywhere close to being right?

I am more then likely wrong, and that show is crazy, but I couldn't resist posting the humorous thought on here.

Wow! This thread has gained a lot of posts!

I find America going more downhill everyday. Why is it that we the most blessed country on earth have the largest abusers of drugs in the world? We have every opportunity in the world to better ourselves, live a good life, and everything our founding fathers promised to us, and that our veterans died for.

Most of the poppy that is the base for few different drugs comes from Afghanistan. Most of the worlds cocaine comes from Columbia. So the way I see it when you purchase these drugs you support...

A. Insurgency and warlords in Afghanistan that receives the profits from the drugs to fight and kill our soldiers.

B. Drug Cartels that kill, kidnap, blackmail, rape, and pay off corrupt officials on both sides of the border.

The places you see getting busted for making these things are beyond filthy.

Will making them legal resolve these problems? Or, will create a large black market and just be sold cheaper on the street? Legal or not addicts will steal anything they can sell to go buy it. This is similar to a homeless person spare changing to buy a bottle of booze to get him through the day.

I don't hate anyone. I wish instead of advancing nuclear weapons...cause we have enough to destroy the world 200+ times over already... we should invest in medical studies that would form a cure for addicts.

Thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

Liberty,

Home schooled students, public school students, charter... all kids are exposed to peer pressure. They have to be around other kids and people sometime in their life. Perhaps the so called "risk" would be less frequent, but unless you have them living in a bubble how can you stop it?

I was just watching the news, and listened in on a possible change in school format. The parents would be graded on how well they are involved in their child's education. I believe it was also the parents grading the teachers. Do you think that is a good idea or not?

Arse, A Hoosier,

I think Sunny knew how our local judicial system worked in these matters. I took it as he/she was dramatically stating the obvious. I could be wrong though, but it's hard to believe with all the things he is dead on about. Arse and Sunny, you two know a lot about the city/county, politics, and the history of political decisions. I enjoy reading your posts.

I agree Sunny, the door is needed and it serves a great purpose. I just think it is a little...overkill. Not sure if that is the best term for it.

Ed,

I am with you on this one. When this lady was heading the wrong way down a highway, that was probable cause to stop her in the first place. If I was one of the arresting officers doing my job when I took her into custody, I would be a little offended. It would be like saying they didn't do their job right basically. I am curious to know what element was missing to take the case to trial?

Arse is very passionate about his "Calling it like you see it". That is why I respect his posts and his opinions cause they usually carry merit. I think it was narrowed down to the Manley/Neal debate with NKR because he was trying to prove a point over nepotism.... and they were cited as an example. I doubt either he or myself disagree with your assessment of our county officials. He is just frustrated like a lot of us are. Now that everything has been aired out. Lets continue to work together for a better community and encourage the staff at the R.T. to investigate these things.
