Proud Redneck,
Please refer to an article in the August 12, 1998 Martinsville Reporter front page by Bette Nunn or the August 12, 1998 Indianapolis Star City/State section for an article by Kim Hooper. An archive of the Reporter can be found at the Morgan County Library and the archive of the Star article can be found at the Star's website.

WOW, to bad Jerry Sichting didn't stick around, with him as head coach, Steve Spears (Troy's daddy) as assistant coach, and Troy Spears on the team Martinsville would have won State with no trouble.

Since when does five class B misdemeanors make the paper with a full articles? You would think that he committed five felonies. Seems to me like the Reporter-Times is either giving Harmon fifteen minutes of fame or trying to win favors with the local government officials that do not like Harmon.

Hunter, maybe they enjoy getting to be in the contest. Maybe they enjoy getting to be with the other girls. Maybe they enjoy many things about it! You know there is more to it than just winning! I admire the ones that don't win, but come back. It takes courage to know that you haven't won, but still want participate. And again, there is a lot more to the Fair Queen Contest than winning.

Officer resigns from part-time job after Tasering

“He was working as private security, on his own time,” Deckard said, “not as a member of the city of Martinsville nor the city police department on our time.”

Guess what the Mayor is saying is he doesn't care how his officers act off duty. What a shame once again the mayor and his Gestapo give Martinsville a black eye.

How many times do you see kids riding on the roads? Indiana Code 14-16-1-20(5C) states you must have a valid motor vehicle driver's license to operate an ORV on a public road.
If anything good could come out of this would be for other parents to keep their kids safe and off the roads.

I don't have problems with Mr. Davis, however, in light of all a lot of current events sometimes hiring "new blood" or someone from outside helps. But this goes along with what a lot of people are saying about Martinsville, it is the "good ole boy club".

At least Downey's guys aren't making the news all the time. Between the kid that got tasered and slapped, to the arrest in Noblesville for being drunk, to now this the Martinsville Police Department sure makes the news a lot. Sheriff Downey seems to run a tight ship and I COMMEND him for that.
Coach gets tickets on way to celebration
Tomcatt68
Monday, June 4, 2012: 11:57 am
The coach in question here is my best friend and more like a brother to me. I will say this, his intent was to show his youngest son's team a good time. Many of you have said, that he broke the law and I would guess that is true. I can tell you this guy would never put any kid in harms way. This man has coached for years, with one thing in mind, helping the young kids out. He is a GREAT FATHER, Coach, and Friend to many! Officer Richards had several choices in front of him that day and in my opinion and ONLY MY OPINION, he made the wrong one. If the tickets stand, they will be paid. However, my respect along with many other for the Martinsville Police Department will be all but gone. You did your job Officer Richards, Great Job!

I have heard a lot of people say; "There was nothing more than could do" or "It is really hard to prove" because this is Martinsville and in Martinsville the "good ole boys" take care of one another. You have a school superintendent that was arrested for a DWI and did anything happen? NO. You have an athletic director that is married to the daughter of Siderewicz, do you really think anyone is going to take action against him? NO. Welcome to MARTINTUCKY, Home of the Good Ole Boys Club! It has been that way for years and always will be.
Look how fast Lipps and Taylor got an old town hero in here to help divert attention away from all this. You think they did this for the kids? They did that in hopes all the people would say "WOW, this is GREAT" and forget all the other. And guess what, it is working.

Everyone stop complaining on the Reporter's comment section and really do something. File a complaint with the Indiana State Superintendent and the Indiana Attorney General's Office. If all of what is being said is true, the State will investigate. Here is the contact information:

Indiana State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Tony Bennett, (317) 232-6665 or email at superintendent@doe.in.gov

Indiana Attorney Generals Office, Greg Zoeller, 317.232.6201 or e-mail: Constituent@atg.in.gov
Eagle killer should be caught, prosecuted

Monday, February 13, 2012: 2:45 pm
The bald eagle will continue to be protected by the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act even though it has been delisted under the Endangered Species Act. This law, originally passed in 1940, provides for the protection of the bald eagle and the golden eagle (as amended in 1962) by prohibiting the take, possession, sale, purchase, barter, offer to sell, purchase or barter, transport, export or import, of any bald or golden eagle, alive or dead, including any part, nest, or egg, unless allowed by permit Bald Eagle sitting in tree (16 U.S.C. 668(a); 50 CFR 22). "Take" includes pursue, shoot, shoot at, poison, wound, kill, capture, trap, collect, molest or disturb (16 U.S.C. 668c; 50 CFR 22.3). The 1972 amendments increased civil penalties for violating provisions of the Act to a maximum fine of $5,000 or one year imprisonment with $10,000 or not more than two years in prison for a second conviction. Felony convictions carry a maximum fine of $250,000 or two years of imprisonment. The fine doubles for an organization. Rewards are provided for information leading to arrest and conviction for violation of the Act. -US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICES.

How many State Championships has Martinsville ever won in football? NONE! Why,one is because we have never had a great coach and two small town politics always decides on who is on the team and who is not, who plays and who sits on the bench. Everyone in Martinsville knows it, just no one ever wants to say anything because you might hurt someone's feelings or make someone mad.

Yes that is correct NMP1, he gave up the Fair Building! And from what I have been informed it already has a new occupant trying to get it cleaned up and back in working order. And Voice of Reason, again it was my understanding he gave up the Fair Building because he said he had no interest from any of the parents or students to work it.
