| Arthur says he won’t run again | |
| USCitizen Thursday, August 16, 2012: 11:44 pm | sorry tlh I did mistype and typed hear instead of heat. I agree and altho I am not a citizen of the fair city of Martinsville, it does seem those two really care about the city and have taken the higher road, remained true gentlemen and acted with great diplomacy. Qualities many seem to lack these days. |
| Arthur says he won’t run again | |
| USCitizen Thursday, August 16, 2012: 10:12 pm | why would he not stand up for his convictions and finish the job he was elected to do. I certainly hope he does not run for another office, who knows if he would complete that term either. No one has taken the hear more than Mayor Deckard and Ross Holloway and they are still in the ring. Seems like Ross was hired to do a job and now people begrudge his salary. I sat in on some of those(not secret) meetings and looked to me like he earned every cent. |
| Support for annexation just isn’t there | |
| USCitizen Thursday, July 26, 2012: 4:27 pm | That is why we have no improvements in Martinville. No vision for the future of our town, growth or jobs. Lets keep doing things the same old way and watch the town continue to die. Same good old boys running it and mob rule. |
| City annex plan cut further | |
| USCitizen Thursday, July 26, 2012: 4:22 pm | City Council cares little about the betterment of Martinsville. Lots of money wasted, time and effort wasted for something they were to to timid or lacked the intestinal fortitude to pursue. Sad state of affairs and a loss for Martinsville |
| Engineer: Annex led to jobs for neighbor | |
| USCitizen Thursday, July 26, 2012: 12:21 am | Mooresville had a vision and is cfar more progressive than Martinsville. And yet again growth along the highway! It is not rocket science but evidently our town council cannot see down the rad any farther than their noses/ |
| Not all against annexation | |
| USCitizen Friday, June 8, 2012: 1:27 pm | I commend this administration for putting up with the snide slanderous and often mean spirited remarks to let everyone have they say. The council is elected by and works for rhe residents of Martinsville and should do what is best or most beneficial for the city, even if that includes annexation in all or in part. I listened to all the remarks and everyone acts like they are having their property seized. Then they complain the city is going to get rich of their taxes. If they seize your property then they cannot get taxes off it. Your arguments are not valid. We need to see growth in this area and I hope they annex everything from Mooresville to the Monroe county line! |
| City annexation: Round 3 | |
| USCitizen Thursday, May 24, 2012: 11:07 pm | Thanks Martinsville council for having a vision for the growth and economic advancement of our town. If things like this were left up to us voters nothing would ever be accomplished. No one wants to spend his hard earned money to help his neighbor or future generations. We already have no where to shop and few nice restaurants. Even if we attract a few of these by added population and developed areas it would be a blessing to Martinsville. Thank you Phil and others who have remained gentlemen through some very personal and uncalled for nasty remarks by some very rude people/ |
| Martinsville tennis coach identified as teacher placed on leave | |
| USCitizen Friday, April 13, 2012: 11:01 pm | Two grown men willing to give up careers and families not new but I sure don;t want them in a position of teaching my kids.Furniss had to know and he needed to be gotten rid of after the drunk driving episode, Clean House! |
| Let’s blame all our ills on ‘Obamacare’ | |
| USCitizen Thursday, April 12, 2012: 10:33 pm | Well since Obamacare is only slightly in effect, i.e. coverage for your kids to age 26 and not denying healthcare due to pre-existing conditions, I think Dean meant his Dr did this on his own!! I think the healthcare bill is a wonderful thing and hope all you who hate it do not come up against a catostrophic illness or pre existing condition or your young adult unemployed or underemployed child does not get hospitalized with no insurance! Switzerland has mandatory health insurance and has one of the highest longevity rates in the world. We have one of the lowest and one of the highest infant motality rates in the world because women cannot afford prenatal care and insurance companies do think pregnancy is a pre-existing condition! When our people cannot afford medications or health care, even preventative, it becomes a social problem for us all and puts our whole population at risk from community acquired diseases! |
| State dismisses case against former teacher | |
| USCitizen Tuesday, March 6, 2012: 11:18 pm | Well who would of thought another teacher gets off scott free. Even tho he was in jail last week for failure to appear he is out to pursue whomever or whatever he desires as he is above the law evidently. He can even sub or go back into teaching as the charges are dropped so he has no record! Guess we will have to wait and see if he actually kills someone before anything will be done! |
| Board accepts Wolf's resignation; board first heard of possible relationship in May 2011 | |
| USCitizen Thursday, February 16, 2012: 9:45 pm | We need to ask for the immediate resignation of all these board members too. |
| Rohlman: Experience an asset in coroner’s office | |
| USCitizen Monday, February 13, 2012: 11:03 pm | Thanks for the information posted here as to the family ties and morals. This is stuff we need to know to make good decisions in voting for our officials. I knew the minute Long endorsed her that was a bad omen and thought she should drop out then. If more people would speak up, situations like we have now with Long and at the High School would cease. We need to clean this county up and stand up for public decency and morality. She does not sound like someone I would want to have dealing with!! |
| Martinsville basketball coach arrested for public indecency | |
| USCitizen Monday, February 13, 2012: 10:52 pm | someone set a time to picket the school administration and we will be there, same if there is a closed school board meeting. Call the administration and ask for a house cleaning and all of you who know stuff name names to the media or state and clean this town up. It starts with those of you who know, those of us on the outside or non natives who do not know all this stuff will back you all to the hilt. I do not understand, if there is smoke there is fire and evidently there is a lot of people who smelled smoke for many years, if he had been caught here it would have been covered up like everything else but since it was Indy and the news got it, the story came out. He will get to keep his retirement and insurance for us all to pay so he can continue to live his perverted lifestyle. Was his family not aware? I heard his wife knew and he had left her for this girl. They should have turned him in, also!!!! |
| Camby resident Justin Foster bags piebald deer | |
| USCitizen Wednesday, September 21, 2011: 11:59 pm | It is rare and now it is dead. I do not want to see it on the front page or any page of my daily newspaper. Publish it in Field and Stream or something if you must brag about it. |
| Randy Tutterow has initial hearing on intimidation charges | |
| USCitizen Friday, July 22, 2011: 12:27 am | hmmm guess you would have to have been there! Bet the people involved took it very serious and the evidence must have pointed differently. Most people never get arrested unless there is a problem and it looks like he is getting help while not being a menace to society. Thank God for law enforcement and court systems, it mey not be perfect but that is who you all depend on when someone is a threat to you and yours. Just saying----- |
| Randy Tutterow has initial hearing on intimidation charges | |
| USCitizen Thursday, July 21, 2011: 4:01 pm | Serial killers all have friends and neighbors who say he was such a nice guy and are sooooo surprised! |
| MSD Martinsville suspends superintendent for five days; other penalities | |
| USCitizen Friday, April 9, 2010: 12:54 am | I am so disappointed in our school board for their decision on Ron Furniss. He should never have a car provided for him again. Hopefully he will get more than a smack on the hand from the court system but I doubt it. Thanks Liberty for giving us info on school board members. None of them will ever get a vote from me. Must be some of his golfing or drinking buddies. Guess money and position has it's benefits.I cannot think a teacher or janitor or school bus driver would get off so easy!!!!!! |
| Martinsville police officers suspended for alleged use of Taser on boy | |
| USCitizen Friday, April 2, 2010: 8:27 am | No doubt that child was out of control. I do not understand how two grown men could not have reasoned with or took down the young boy, and yes there are times this has to be done in a safe manner to keep people from hurting themselves or others. Paramedics should have been called to check this boy out due to the behaviour and the tasing. I feel like Jon Davis and Phil Deckard will thoroughly investigate this especially in light of it being all over the internet and national news. Another black eye for Martinsville. |
