The CEO of the local hospital was also aware of his drunken behavior, yet Reynolds was allowed to continue practicing under the influence for YEARS. Are you paying attention Clarian?!!! If you put a call out to the public and dig through past records, I’m sure you’ll find evidence of this. Maybe that will warrant you to make the appropriate, permanent changes/elimination.

And I think this is one of the most important points: No matter how many bad surgeries or acts of drunkenness, the CEO, the board, and the medical staff of the hospital allowed him to continue to practice.

BECAUSE OF MY MOTHERS DEATH..the man thinks he is invincible, but finally after all these years karma hascaught up with him.oh and for proof i know that the man has been to rehab just couple of years ago.. and why do think the man retired early..

I am speaking a year and a half later, since I just found this article, but I offer my full support to the children of Mrs. Pressler, and may Dr. Reynolds, the master of intimidation along with his hospital buddies, be punished to the fullest extent possible.

Paul is a good guy and should do well for the community.

Like hell. His ethics must be not unlike those of Dr. Reynolds.

Yeah.... Please look up the difference between slander and libel. No slander here.

"Nobody important"-I guess not. Tomato, toe-mott-toe. You obviously and probably intentionally missed the point with your little definition game.
Definition of slander in Legal Dictionary at Webster-dictionary.org:
Slander- The defaming a man in his reputation by speaking or writing words which affect his life, office, or trade...etc.
Note also that those posting should read the Reporter-Times terms of use regarding the posting of damaging comments about individuals.

without the person being accused being given a chance to defend himself.

I'm sure Dr. Polar can afford to pay the online subscription fee and come on this comment section and defend himself (just like the Mayor does.)

These comments about a doctor, beyond the ability of the accused to defend himself, are inappropriate and do not belong in the paper
Other than fact that, like I said, a newspaper blog (or a letter to the editor), is not the appropriate forum in which a person should defend himself. The appropriate forum is called a court of law.

Also, a politician explaining his actions in the paper is not the same as a doctor defending an accusation of alleged malpractice in the paper. Any comment the individual makes could be used in any subsequent legal action until the matter is settled.

I'm also quite sure the paper would be more than happy to print a letter to the editor from Dr. Polar in a future issue where he can explain his inability to pass the board exams among other things.

I know Dr. Polar personally and he is a great doctor and great employee at I.U. Morgan Hospital. He is very friendly and truely cares about his patients. Thanks to some of the staff that has left the hospital and went to St. Francis for dragging our Doctors through the mudd. Obviously the citizens that are supporting St. Francis coming to town they don't want a local hospital with good doctors anymore. Just what we need is another building sitting empty, more people out of jobs and houses going in foreclosure, and your property values going down. All because Dr. Boyer doesn't want to care for her patients in the hospital. I work for a great Hospital; I.U. Health Morgan Hospital. We are standing behind you Dr. Polar.

I agree. It appears to me that this board action was simply a parting dirty trick by Dr. Boyer against her partner Dr. Polar as she prepares to set up business across town. Interesting that she apparently didn't have any complaints about Dr. Polar as she served in her position of Chief of Medicine at IU Health Morgan Hospital. We all support Dr. Polar and give him a vote of confidence.

wonder if he'll get back the half mil he spent defending himself. hes right ya know. federal bs has made it hard for people seriously in need to get the drugs that could improve their lives. docs are afraid to prescribe said meds..

This comment has nothing to do with the contents of the article. And what is this so-called "federal BS" that keeps patients from receiving "needed medical care?" Also, is Mr. Searcy therefore claiming that a person receiving a narcotics prescription in the driveway, without undergoing an examination, from a physician whose license has been suspended, is good and appropriate medical care? Why don't we all skip going for legitimate medical care and just buy some pills or "scripts" on the street?
