Good on him for trying to be involved in his kids lives and sharing the outdoors with them. However, I've done that trip dozens of times and if you've done it once you know it is a 5 hour trip even when the fish aren't biting. 2 grown men in a canoe putting out the whole time would have a hard time making it in 3 hours. When you venture into the outdoors, go prepared, do your homework, and have a contingency plan.
Madison Township closes fire station, cuts firefighter wages

This is crazy. There is no reason why government should have to work within a budget. Maybe they should put cells in the old fire station and throw some more folks in jail. If the county can get $1000000 more of our tax dollars from that tiny jail addition think of all the money they would make, to waste, if they filled the station with prisoners.

1586498 children not shot in Indiana since 2008 due to responsible gun ownership.
Unfortunately, Indiana law does not recognize that implementing policy based on the actions of a few idiots doesn't make any sense, but you do need to do your due diligence to avoid a tragedy,” Alpha tango said

You are right liberty. Tear up the Indiana constitution. Separation of powers is a terrible idea. We should chip away at it until we have a dictator. Do you even read the articles?

I sure wish more people would go to jail. Not crooked cops or thieving bureaucrats and politicians. Just average folks. If we could get a few hundred more people in jail just think about all that tax money we paid that the county could get.

Sonnega is trying to work himself into a job. If the legal alternative to marijuana is banned then people will go back to marijuana and he can have someone to prosecute. There is a new wing of the jail that needs filled.

Too bad the county can't impose draconian prison sentences. We need more people in jail and they built that new wing that needs filled. If this is an issue then Morgan county definitely needs to go dry. Look at the jail logs 1/2 are alcohol related. Thanks Sonnega. Way to work yourself into a job.

Liberty,
It is a dog. A pet. I could see the need for investigation if it was a working dog with some value but it was just someones vicious little fancy. Don't petition to keep it alive if you aren't willing to pay for it. I would hate for people to have to pay their own way. Or could you imagine, be responsible for their actions. That "pet" should have been killed a long time ago.

Condition of chocolate aside..the Candy Kitchen and the family who operates it should be proud of their longevity. I mean you'd be a fool to open a shop on the square in Martinsville..they don't last for more than a year or two max. Big props to the Candy Kitchen and Summer Fun!

This incident represents many things, but to classify it as a "personal matter" is foolish. Mr. O'dell broke the law, and not unlike any other criminal, his actions are made public and are subjected to public scrutiny. It has been mentioned that, "If he wasnt a firefighter nothing would have ever been published". On the contrary, the sole purpose of the newspaper is to report newsworthy events...and an incident of a volunteer firefighter unlawfully impersonating an officer of the law is definately news. The threat of cancelled subscriptions will do little to change the news being reported because the news in Martinsville will, for the most part, remain unchanged.

THEMANISHERE, I sincerely hope that when you stated, "If they want to get the community involved with so called politics lets run a poll and see how many citizens want to actually join the two fire departments. ( Martinsville and Washington Twshp", you weren't implying that members of said departments somehow hold a higher position within our social structure due to the nature of their profession. Firefighters, regardless of title, volunteer to perform taks that are inherently dangerous and for this they should be honored, however, to suggest that their profession provides them with a certain "freedom of manuever" in their environment, is rediculous. Ok..so you're a firefighter sticking up for one of his own, we got it, thanks for your service. But I urge you to be careful with your word choice...if you want to compare service records we can do that.

If find it intersenting that you stated, " So whoever wrote this article grow some balls and display your name like everyone else who writes a letter to the editor has to", while you failed to include your name or title on your posts.

Furthermore, when you stated, " I hope your not banged up in a car wreck or your trapped in your house because the guys with lights may just shut them off out of fear that some jackass like you will bash them for trying to help someone!!!!", it sounds more like you "hope" the writer does get banged or trapped in his/her house so that YOU can shut your lights off in fear.

Did you notice how I completely destroyed your arguement through the analysis of your text and by directly quoting your rhetoric?

Nate O'Dell needs to review the job description of a volunteer firefighter not to mention the U.S. Constitution. Mr. O'Dell is lucky he was in Martinsville, and a member of the Good ole Boy Network, i.e. Jake Garner (6 months for 21 counts of arson) and the innocent civilian he unlawfully stopped was an unsuspecting female on her way to work. If this incident does not represent a case of " illegaly impersonating an officer"....what does? Quite frankly, Mr. O'Dell is lucky he wasn't met with the business end of a legally concealed weapon.

Great story about a local veteran...too bad Aaron Belvins failed to do the proper research needed in order to spell "fallujah" correctly. Give the man and all other men and women who served in Fallujah the respect they deserve....spell check
