| Martinsville basketball coach arrested for public indecency | |
| arties14 Monday, February 13, 2012: 2:14 pm | I feel bad for the players, the community, the school's reputation... It is terrible and anyone who knew about this over the years...as our kids all did...should be punished to the fullest extent of the law as well. This is no different than the unfortunate things that have come to light in collegiate sports recently. |

| arties14 Wednesday, September 28, 2011: 11:02 am | Just don't let them get it to the 50 yd line w/that kicker they have! He beat us on his own last year. Our defense made some great stops but that kid was amazing! |

| arties14 Thursday, September 8, 2011: 1:16 pm | Not sure who is rating this low....but it is a studied fact that there are more ankle and knee injuries on turf fields than on natural grass fields. |
| Artesians start fast, but Woodmen finish | |
| arties14 Wednesday, September 7, 2011: 12:13 pm | Get Real.....your interpretation may be correct but it doesn't come across that way. It never has and the players don't see it that way either. Bottom line is that it should be taken up with the athletes during practice and not in a public setting so that they players feel belittled and unappreciated. That being said, I would agree that the coaches and players put a lot of time and effort in to prepare for the season and EVERYONE (including the coaches) want to win games. The coaches put the players out there that they feel are getting the job done in practice and on the field. That has never been an issue in my opinion. Bottom line is...it is a game! It is about the kids! Back them, be a cheerleader for them and pick them up when they are down. There are kids out there who have worked very hard for this season and some will now not get to play and be part of it and some who still very much want to play and represent their school and all of them deserve the backing and support of the community! Let's go Arties! |

| Artesians fall to Braves in opener | |
| arties14 Wednesday, August 24, 2011: 1:17 pm | You are 100% corret Sampson! I am not sure who is rating you, but they must not have respect for others either. When kids give up their summer and free time to represent their school, and give everything they have in a game situation, it demands the respect of the coach. These are kids that have not played in many of these positions and need to be built up....not ridiculed. Some kids cannot play well under those circumstances, or will choose to not play at all. If you have those feelings Coach, you should keep that to yourself, among the coaches and try to work with the talent that you have and give them a pat on the back...not a knife in the back! It is unfortunate that a coach and assistant athletic director would make comments such as this in a public forum. He may have ruined the season before it starts. I cannot tell you how frustrated the boys were last year and the year before to continually hear that on the radio and in the paper. Again, I know Coach does not appreciate being bashed in public about his abilities, so he should take that into consideration. Just sayin'! |

| arties14 Monday, August 22, 2011: 9:53 am | I don't think that we were discussing the game play...but more the coach commenting that he had no athletes. I think that was actually the point of the comments initially. Wins or losses really were not the focus. THS was supposed to be pretty good this season anyway and MHS is in somewhat of a rebuilding mode now after losing quite a few kids who played both sides of the ball and pretty much all of their line. Not to worry. They will turn it around. |

| arties14 Monday, August 22, 2011: 6:53 am | I would agree MHS Parent....but I still don't agree with publicly saying that there are no athletes on the team! Why would the boys want to play for him after that comment. But it is not shocking....he has said it every year he has been here. Best of luck to the boys! They are all great kids! |

| arties14 Sunday, August 21, 2011: 10:06 pm | My son played for coach K for 4 years and he never took responsibility for anything...just always said that we had no athletes. I hate that someone in his position, who works with young, impressionable men, is allowed to even make those type of comments. He does not work for the boys and does not promote them. He just knocks them down a lot of times. Think before you speak coach. Your tactics do nothing for the morale of the team...and why should they play for you if you have this opinion of them? It is a LOT of time and effort for those boys and I sure would not want to go out there day in and day out to play for someone who doesn't respect me. No one would. I know he doesn't appreciate it when folks say that we don't have a good coach... |

| All-area football team loaded with talent | |
| arties14 Thursday, May 5, 2011: 1:13 pm | Is this in reference to this past football season or just in general? This has players in the mix who were not on the team last year and the players are not noted to be in the appropriate classes and some of the stats are not from this past season. |

| Brooklyn council considers merit board for police department | |
| arties14 Thursday, February 17, 2011: 8:00 pm | I don't think allowing the officers and Hester to appoint people will solve anything. The officers we have right now are totally ridiculous. They are out of control and harrass residents. This resident will now be recording any and all instances involving the Brooklyn Police. The have recently taken to pulling out of locations and following very closely for no reason and then just turning around. They have also pulled residents over for no reason and have not stated the reason, but just pulled them over and then yelled at them to go ahead and went back to their cars. We have decided that we will all now be using cell phones to record such instances. |

| arties14 Wednesday, October 27, 2010: 1:09 pm | Agreed Artie!! I read that article as well and thought it was terrible to put that type of comment about Jace Lowry's performance in the paper! He did an outstanding job and deserved better from the home town paper! |
