1. The first amendment protects the distribution of free political newspapers, fliers, or leaflets in public places. See Lovell vs. City of Griffin, 303 U.S. 444 (1938) where a local law infringing the rights of people to do so was struck down. The court said the following : The first Amendment necessarily embraces pamphlets and leaflets. These indeed have been historic weapons in the defense of liberty, as the pamphlets of Thomas Paine and others in our town history abundantly attest.
2. The first Amendment protects distributors of political literature for pretextual arrests for littering. In Schneider vs. New Jersey, 308 U.S. 147 (1939) the court said: We are of the opinion that the purpose to keep the streets clean and of good appearance is sufficient to justify an ordinance which prohibits a person rightfully on a public street from handing literature to one willing to receive it. Any burden imposed upon the city authorities in cleaning and caring for the streets as an indirect consequence of such distribution results from the constitutional protection of the freedom of speech and press.

all I am gonna say is we have a law called separation of church and state then why is the government gonna say it is illegal for a man to marry another man or a woman marry another woman because the bible says not to sounds like a double standard as to what in church is separated and what isn't. if the separation of church in state law is to be upheld then there shouldn't be any laws stating 2 same sex couples can't marry legally in Indiana end of story

hmmm as I read this looks like some people on here need to get a job or a hobby that's better than having something to say about everything that goes on in the paper and as far as tax payers getting a say in the way our tax dollars are spent well they let us say what we have to say about it but that's as far as it gets if you really think they listen to you as a tax payer in America on how to spend the money we pay in well wake up smell the coffee they don't if the government did care about it we would see change but they could care less so why waste your breath bitching about how they spend our money we pay in for taxes when it does no good
