Replacing the “good ole boys” with real liberty minded, principled “average Joe’s”, constitution upholding patriots, and small business owners that feel the pain of abusive gov’t regulations and incompetence on their businesses and employees, is NOT impossible. It won’t be easy; but it can definitely be done. It is up to us. Self-government is NOT easy; but it is worth it! |

| jimenicholls2 Friday, May 10, 2013: 9:55 am | There is a lot of talk about public safety...and that a centralized 911 Center and Training Center at a cost of $1-$2MIL is what "safest" for the people. That could be true, or not. I'd like to see some real numbers on how many people are likely not helped, or hurt or killed in the current system that wouldn't be if we had the new system. In another words, how many more people would be helped or spared further injury/death with a new, centralized $2MIL, 10000sqft dispatch/training center? The answer is self-evident, as most truth is. If people were being unecessarily hurt/killed because of the current system/s, then there would have already been major outcry already, and justifiably so...but there isn't. This seems to be just another gov't boondoggle, and an excuse to spend the money of the taxpayer with the false justification of "public safety". The point is the current system and EMS/Law Enforcement already DO A GREAT JOB! How about we find a way that we can continue that stellar performance and cut costs, too?!...like the rest of us that own/run our businesses have to do? How about adding new phone lines and computers to one of the current dispatch centers? Increase the capacity, hire a couple more people as 911 operators, use existing structures or add on... you get the same end result at a much lower cost = much more value to me/you/us the taxpayer and employer of all in gov't. Seems like a no brainer, to me; but I think like George Washington..."gov't is like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master". |

As you have found, asking pertinent (obvious) questions will often arise the ire of people who are too lazy to think, too invested in the status quo, or are just plain hard headed and not interested in the truth. Those of us who work for a living running businesses and employees and assets, need to be involved with these decisions and asking the questions until honest answers are given. My first question, which originates as a business person that is always looking to squeeze every last ounce of value from every dollar, is why can't the dispatch centers be consolidated into an existing location? How much would a few more phone lines and computers cost to install in an existing location, compared to building a brand new building and IT infrastructure on a green field site? It is obvious what is best for the investors (taxpayers), but politicians who by definition spend money that isn't theirs, don't think like normal people like us. |

Case in point, if you didn't know that Hemlock or Arsenic were poison, would they still kill you? Of course, they would. The mentality that what we "know", is all we need to know, and it is always right, because that is what I've always believed...is dangerous. What is more dangerous is believing anyone...teacher, preacher, gov't "official", etc...just because they say so. The Sheriff, is in fact, the highest, most powerful constitutionally based Law enforcement position in each county. He is the only elected Law Enforcement Official in the country. That means, the PEOPLE put him there, as the last line of defense for us. Look it up. The history of the Sheriff goes back long before our country was established. He is the highest, constitutional position in the whole county. He runs a huge department of diverse employees and a jail, too. He has the authority to tell State and Fed law enforcement to leave, if he chooses. I don't think $100K is too much, if he's doing his job as he should. The good thing is the Sheriff is a voted position. So, if we feel he's not up to par, we can vote him out. |

| jimenicholls2 Tuesday, March 5, 2013: 11:21 am | My point is to get people thinking about the fact that this town is not big enough to justify a full-time $60K/yr mayor. Can't afford it, anyway. This position, is at best, a part time position. The mayor should be part-time with only his/her expenses paid and maybe a very, very low part-time wage. From my research, Deckard is the first full-time mayor. Before that they were all part-time. What changed? The argument that he should be fully paid and full-time because he is now the head of the "economic development commission", DOES NOT FLY. For several reasons: 1) Gov't should have no role in developing business. This is for good reason. Unfortunately, we have become so accustomed to this as being normal, we don't realize how un-free our markets are. When gov'ts and corporations get in bed with each other, just like Hitler and Mussolini did, it is called Fascism. The system breeds corruption because gov't selects the business it wants as the "winners", then the corporations lobby the gov't for kicks and favors, then people transfer between the corporations and the gov't, with revolving doors between the two to further ensure that each "side" is well taken care of, with small businesses getting the short end of the stick and eventually getting done away with altogether. Sound familiar??!! It should, because that is exactly what America has become, fascist. Just like Hitler's Germany and Mussolini's Italy. 2)Gov't should simply get out of the way of business, and not be involved, at all; except to ensure, on a very limited basis, that grievances are settled and the law is followed. 3) This mayor has already proven that he cannot be trusted to fully avoid any and all conflict of interests. This is what almost always happens with people that seek gov't positions. They eventually think they are the best their is and it is ok to "arrange" things so he can not only be the mayor and econ dev guy and get paid full time salary; but also "arrange" things so he can make some extra pocket cash from his side business of auctioneering. 4) My question is, if he is arranging deals, out in the open, to make money as an auctioneer of city equip, what is he doing that we don't know about? It is a fair question, politically incorrect and unpopular; but still fair. I don't even live inside the city limits; but this behavior by our servants is just plain embarrassing. This investigative report also reveals that the Mayor has arranged to personally profit from the auctioning of City property. Mayor salary change from: Year Pay prior year 2010 $49,232 2011 $54,970 +11.7 2012 $60,000 +9.2% For the record, I truly believe that a person should be paid what they are worth. Whether it be $60,000 per year, $600,000 per year, or $6 Billion per year, an individual should be paid what he/she truly earns in the free market; but that is not what we are talking about here. We are talking about a “servant”. One of our EMPLOYEES in a position that does not produce ANYTHING; but is TAKING our tax dollars and transferring them to their personal paychecks. This sincerely makes my heart heavy, as it does yours, I’m sure. We have friends, family, acquaintances that are without jobs. Good people, of all skill levels, ages, industries, unions, trades, etc. that are truly hurting in the depression we are in… BUT the mayor, with the council’s vote, gives him, on average, a 10% raise every year for the past 3 years!!?? I know as a business owner, an employer and also as an employee, without a doubt, that a 10% annual raise for anyone during the economy of the past 3 years, IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF!! Almost no business is doing this! Except, of course, for government and big banks. The two of which are barely distinct from each other, anymore. Of course, they are in an unholy alliance with each other; but that story is for another day. Brothers and Sisters, do you realize that every dollar of salary the mayor receives is from money that is deducted from YOUR paycheck, in one way or another?? The rest of us that work for a living, producing products and services that are purchased by free and willing consumers, are paid based on our production. What does any government position, or government produce? It is a politically incorrect question; but a necessary one, all the same. As if that is not enough, the mayor has "arranged" deals to personally profit from auctioning city equipment?! It is sad, very sad that this behavior has become "normal". THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR BY OUR SERVANTS SHOULD NOT BE "NORMAL". PEOPLE OF MARTINSVILLE, WE NEED OUR MORAL COMPASS RE-CALIBRATED. If we study even a snippet of history, we can expect this behavior of "those in power". WE GET EXACTLY THE GOV'T WE DESERVE, DON'T WE? SO, WHY SHOULD WE BE SURPRISED?! I SAY WE DESERVE BETTER!! I say we start ACTING like it, too! We need to put real "servant leaders" back in gov't positions, as real SERVANTS! People that are humble. People that are reluctant to lead; but totally capable of doing so. People not afraid to stand up for Biblical and Constitutional principles, no matter how "unpopular" they may be. People that have no desire for the public lime light, fame, glory, power, etc… We need people like our Founders that saw their public service as a true sacrifice, but a temporary one. These people temporarily stepped away from their homestead, family, or business to serve, with no expectation of fame, glory, inside deals, exorbitant pay, etc…They did their job for a term, maybe two, then they went back to their homestead, business, family. That, is how to restore integrity, nobility, honesty in government, by servant leadership. Additionally, what should be obvious for all to see, is the mayor and some of the city council want you to believe they are conservatives or republicans; but they are not true “Conserve”-atives or “Republic”-ans. In no way, shape or form are they “Conserve”-atives or “Republic”-ans. Think about those words, and what they mean. Let that sink in, a minute. Lord Acton was correct: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." WE CAN IMPOSE TERM LIMITS ON EVERY ELECTION DAY, IF WE CHOOSE! And, that we are merely pulling from our current bank of knowledge/paradigm, which is deficient in knowledge, because by definition, none of us know everything; therefore, all of us are ignorant. Doctor OZ said the same thing in the video. 2) You need the flu shot to prevent the flu. (That is the point, is it not? The whole premise of the getting the flu shot is to PREVENT you from getting the flu. Otherwise, why get it?) Two are in my family. One of them, at 2 months the doc talked the mother into giving the infant the "full load". Within minutes of recieving the shot, the baby went limp, pale and ashen, stopped breathing. They revived the baby; but ever since, that once happy cooing baby, has been a constantly crying, "colicky" baby that is missing all developmental milestones, etc.. The child is now 3 years old, and is OBVIOUSLY not right. He was brain or neuroligically damaged by that vaccine shot at 2 months. Before you so cowardly call that mother and the rest of us a wacko to our faces, maybe you should meet us; and then if your man enough you can call us that to our faces. Make sure you kneel down low enough to look my 3 year old relative in the face when you call him a wacko, too. I urge you to read, study, engulf yourself in the massive amounts of data and research on this subject and others. You will be amazed at what is suppressed. Acting like you know what is in a book, by only relying on what someone else has told you, isn't smart. YOU must read the "book" to truly know what's in it! He was in office with HW Bush signed us onto the UN Agenda 21 agreement; and he said it has been a slow steady taking of our property rights, ever since. He is a profoundly Christian man that believes the modern idea of medical science as our "savior" has become a god and made us less reliant on THE GOD and more susceptible to harm. All this from a guy who IS a MODERN DOCTOR.
