Water company president questions Mooresville's plans

Ratcatcher, apparently you haven't been to the meetings that have been held for the public. All five of the town council members want to buy the water company. They think it will save the water customers money in the long run but I really doubt it. This is why we need five new board members. Someone who cares about what the people want and not what they want. This town must have millions of dollars that is collecting dust and they want to get rid of it. The town council bought the Southbridge Shopping Center, lazers for the police department, 3 new police cars, and now they want to buy the water company. I wish I had some of that money. Residents of Mooresville need to wake up and go to these meetings and find out what is really going on. There are more surprises coming and they will cost us more money.

What does the Bible say about judging people? It's not for us to judge for likewise we will be judged. Also, he who is without sin let him cast the first stone. No one is perfect- neither you nor I so let's not judge. Jeff needs our prayers not our hatred or condemnation.

People were told to stay off the roads but do you know how many companies told their employees to be at work or they would be fired? You are between a rock and a hard place so you have to decide which choice to make. Don't blame the drivers blame the employers.

There are some petitions around the town. You may have to ask some of the business folks if they have one. I know Joe Neal has one and there are others.Sign it and let you family, friends, and neighbors know about it.
This is senseless. That is why we need new board members- ones who care about the people of the town and not what they want.

From what I have heard about Mr. Tony Bennett is that he is constantly having the school kids take tests, which aren't necessary and it's costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars. If this is true, then I wish someone would explain to me why the kids are having to take so many tests. Is it making them any smarter? I doubt it. When I was in school if a student had a problem with some subject then that teacher stayed after school to help them. Now, when that school bell rings for dismissal the teacher is out the door before the student. No wonder kids are having so many problems with their school work the teachers won't take time to help them. And, why are the students having so much homework and it's keeping them up untill midnight or later? I talked to a grandmother and she said her granddaughter is having to stay up untill 1:00 and 2:00 am to get their homework finished. I think 7 hours a day in school is enough. When they get out of school for the day they should be able to do their own thing.

I agree with Mrs. Poe 100%. We christians need to stand up for our rights before they are taken away, which is the way things are going right now. We are loosing are religious rights, our freedom of speech, just about all of our freedoms. Remember this when its voting time in November. Vote for the right person not the one who wants to 'change' things and then changes them for the worst. Read the books by obama and see where his prorities are- they sure aren't for America.

We do have a freedom of speech now but how much longer is that going to be? As anyone can see (if they have their blinders off) Obama is ruining this country. It doesn't take a genius to see what he is doing.
We are trillions of dollars in debt, he and his wife are constantly going on trips, etc. He has apoliogized to the foreign countries for the way the great USA has treated them. Wonder how our servicemen and women feel about that? Let me tell you- MAD. My husband is a wounded serviceman and it makes him very mad. I would like to see Obama in the front line with no weapon to defend himself and see what these foreign countries would do to him! Well, since he apologized to them they would probably let him go. ]
I hope come election day every voter will have their eyes and ears open to see what Obama has done to this country. Just because you are a Democrat doesn't mean you have to vote for Obama. Let's have some new leadership and let this country get back to where it used to be.

This is going to cost the taxpayers big bucks!! If Ivy Tech moves out of the school the school will loose the money Ivy Tech pays it. That may cause our taxes to go up.
The taxpayers are having to fund this renovation of the old Ace Hardware, having to buy furniture, and who knows what else our money will have to be used for. I'm sure there are other things that you don't know about that haven't been published.
There will be a public hearing on Wed. June 27 at 6:00 pm in the Government Center. I suggest everyone attend this meeting and voice your opinion.
From what I am hearing there are other things in the making that you the taxpayers don't know about. There will be a greater amount of our money used and our taxes will sky-rocket. This project will cost more than the new school would have cost. Be prepared for higher taxes. And you think you are doing without the necessary things now- if this passes you won't be able to buy groceries or gasoline.
Again be at the meeting on Wednesday June 27 at 6:00 pm at the Government Center.

Hugh Jordan wrote that this is the first year Mooresville has not had a prayer at their graduation and it's too bad the minority is winning. Yes, it is sad and if America doesn't change its way of thinking we will all be doomed. Christians are loosing their religious freedom slowly but surely. Our government isn't helping us keep our freedom, either. They are letting these atheist and communist and foreign immigrants have their way with their religion and doing away with ours, This country was fought on freedom of religion. I wonder what our fore fathers would be thinking if they could see this country now. If the Christians don't stand up for their religious beliefs then their religious freedom will be gone.
The Muslims are taking over every country there is and spreading their religious beliefs. Christians- it's time we stand up for our religious rights.

Got to agree on you with this one. Quyle needs to go whether the trails go or not. Remember the $500,000 grant money he got for the Sports Center but it was never built? Bye, bye money. Also he calls someone a liar when they got their facts from someone who knows the business. Why would anyone want this person in office?? Well...........

Hugh Jordan you didn't come right out and say Adam Johnson's name but your comments were made under "sign theft questioned" and he has been accused of stealing Don Adam signs so who else could you possibly be talking about? As I said earlier get your facts straight before you go spouting at the mouth.

Hugh Jordan said: Thirty years old and living in his parents basement:
You need to get your facts straight and stop spreading lies. Mr. Johnson DOES NOT live in his parents basement. He has a house of his own. If people would check facts before they post things on the blogs then we would have a lot less lying and ruining a person's reputation. Would you like it if someone lied about you? You owe Mr. Johnson an apology for lying about him but then I doubt that you will do that. think before you speak. My mother always told her children "if you can't say anything nice about a person keep your mouth shut". You might follow that advice.

MooresvilleCitizen said: Johnson and his supporters don't have jobs.
Have you ever considered they have worked their time and are now retired? I know several that have put in 30, 40,50 years and now they are enjoying their retirement. If they want to support Johnson for County Commisioner what is it to you? These supporters who have worked all those years have had to support others who were too lazy to work. Now it's their time to do what they want to do and NO, they aren't having you to support them. So, before you go saying Johnson's supporters are lazy find out the true facts.

Lies, lies and more lies. Mr. Johnson's supporters are not and will not take anyone's signs. Mr. Johnson and some of the other candidates have had their signs taken, also. Maybe Don Adams has some people who don't want to see him in office any longer. Maybe he has a neighbor who doesn't like him. I don't know what the answer is but the Johnson supporters are not the culprits and I wish those who are accusing them of stealing would stop. Those who are saying and posting these lies can be sued for slander,.

Ratchatcher brought up the subject of Mr.Quyle. Don't forget the time he called Mrs. Caldwell a lied when discussing the town tax increase. She had gotten her information straight from the person's mouth who should know. Do we need Mr. Quyle in office when he calls someone a liar and they are telling the truth. Remember he wanted to build a community center in the North Madison area and had a grant for $500,00.00. The center was never built and the money is all gone?

I really don't believe Mr. Johnson would steal signs from anyone. He seems like a very trust worthy person. Maybe Mr. Adams should consider there may be some people who don't want him re-elected. Maybe a former school student or maybe a neighbor. Until Mr. Adams finds the person who is stealing his signs he shouldn't be accusing anyone of taking them. And, Mr. Adams needs to tell his supporters to stop accusing Mr. Johnson. While they are not coming right out and saying Adam Johnson they are saying Don Adams opponent, and just how many opponents are running against Don Adams? So come on folks, give Mr. Johnson a break and stop accusing him of doing anything wrong and that includes his supporters.

That is what I thought, too. The three of them had good responses when asked questions. Some answers I like, some I didn't but then I don't agree with everyone. At least the three took the time out to talk to the voters and answered their questions. The other two showed me they don't care about the voters, just what they want. One of the five was supposed to show up but then they didn't. To me this shows who's interested in the people and what they have to say.

You say "you think you saw Mourdock fishing" maybe it was Luger but since you don't like Mourdock you put his face in your mind. Luger is the one who needs to go, in fact, he should have gone years ago.

My husband got a job with Allisons a few years ago. He worked there for only a few months before he got laid off. He paid his union dues but when it came time for him to need them they couldn't help him. Also, my grandson got a job and the first thing this company did was to take out union dues even tho he couldn't get any help from them because he had to be there three months for him to be in the union. After a couple of months he lost his job. Did the union help him? NO. So, in my opinion, unions are a waste. I'll vote for the right-to-work bill. Also, this is why things cost so much to buy. People working with a union cost the citizens more money because the companies have to pay the workers higher salaries. In order for them to do that they have to sell their product for a high cost. Do you think it costs $20,000 or more to build a car? No, it's because of the unions. The company has to pay high wages so they have to get the money from somewhere. They pay for their insurance and where does that money come from? Higher cost of an automobile.

As for Mr. Scalf be glad he is concerned about what is going on in Morgan County. He's not sleeping on the job and letting things go his way, he's for the people. Yeah! Keep it up, Mr. Scalf, I'm proud of you.

To Lassiter and others who have given an opinion about two being different. Maybe one child was treated different than the other. One could have been his/her father or mother's favorite and the other one knew it. The good one could have been praised no matter what he/she did but the other one couldn't do anything right. I have seen this in families. Children should all be treated the same. This is one way you have one go the right path and the other one goes down the wrong road.

Amen to what nannyg said. This group is trying to keep our taxes down, which we need right now. Money is tight in our household and I appreciate what they are doing. This group is the opposite of what our elected officials are doing, which is trying to save the people's money not spend it. Sure there may be things that need to be done around town but the town has let them go this long so what's a little bit longer. With the $300,000.00 they have for paving the streets take it and use it for that purpose. I noticed one morning the crossing guard at the corner of Carlisle St. and Indiana St. is parking on the sidewalk. Now the sidewalk is broken up. In fact, it's broken up on both sides. Is she the reason it's broken up on both sides? Make her pay to have it redone as she's probably the one who broke it. Why should the taxpayers have to do it?
