Martinsville board looks at conduct

Mr costin, this all sounds great, but in reality most of us citizens out here know no real process will become of the good ol boys. Are you going to review EVERY child suspended? kicked out? every one? everytime Mr heacock seen fit to kick a child out for a series of less then capitol crimes? just because it makes more sense to him? because he was read and read and developed in his head a warped version of school policy? one that delivers ultimate power to him, and good ol buddy Ron Furniss up top? are you going to look at how many request for expulsion Mr heacock sent to mr Furniss? BETTER YET, just how many ron forniss did NOT APPROVE? Most of us having to deal with the inner ring already know the answer, hard to believe you guys do not. Surly you would have looked into such one sided, walled up, never tested, yet always present actions in expulsion, would you not? HA! The answer is 0, zero times did Mr Ron Furniss even hint at not approving immediately, every single "referral" recommendation for expulsion. Funny thing is, I happen to know 4 sets of parents, all professional, all local, like myself/wife, who talk to each other out here in the real world and discover that "hey, its not just us" that school system, mr furniss, mr heacock has kicked out several teens for less then good reason. The common opinion is possible higher ISTEP? Either way you stack it up, its there to see in the records, thoroughly laiden with the miles of paperwork heacock stacks upon it. I have a teen boy now in the military, having finsihed in the top 2% out of 240 cadets, whom mr heacock kicked out for saying "Sh&t" his power in the school systems is awesome, extended by ny the constant backing of his peer and old classmate, lifelong friend, one day Mr Heacock will make a mistake, everything that comes around goes around indeed. Keep that in mind while your flipping through those papers till April.

The "Town Marshal" Parading all over the county on a new police car, of which only about 1% of the miles are placed in the town of paragon, if that! For pete's sake, take the car, sell the car, use the 5 to 8,000 to straighten the bills out in town. Fire the street crew, hire ONE MAN to take care of those needs, with others on call, how hard can it be? I wonder if there is anyone in that town who is not disgusted when they see gossocop blazing by on the way to anywhere but there.......

nobodyimportant- well said, the only "person" by all practical definitions, would have been the IRS, and "Paragon" just spent $70,000.00 to knock that option clean off the horizon. One cannot help but to wonder if someone down there in that establishment pressed for such an odd move to keep investigative eyes off financial records someone (Possibly Related) could have been held accountable for. The citizens of Paragon really need to get involved here and make changes across the board. Living there for a solid decade, knowing many of them personally, also refraining from negative commentary or gossip, but knowing a change is needed throughout the entire structure. Most towns would embrace a old town hall building with such a rich history, having been in then, and still very much is today, in very good condition. Actually being robbed by John Dillinger among other historic events. One could argue "needed room" as being reason for a new building havin been financed and constructed, until one measured the new building and found less. It really make not an ounce of sense, did'nt then, does'nt now.....

New town hall building, having just gave away the old town hall, leasing it for a dollar to the "paragon Homecoming" the once a year festival (odd) Building a new water company building, buying a new town f250 ford superduty and hiring on 3 full time town employees, who can be seen at any given time throughout the week days kicking back everywhere including the liquor store (odd as well) No town that small should spend that kind of money period. Had Goss not been related, he would have never been issued such a new nice and expensive vehicle for which he racks most of the miles on, out of the town of Paragon. One would have to wonder just where Paragon got the funds to forward the nearly 70,000 to the IRS to avoid a takeover? Bray has been there a long time, helping to make town decisions, throughout all of this, I wonder how anyone in their right mind could even ponder his opinion without exploding at this point? In the very least the IRS would have repaired the towns finances and cut childish and favoritism family spending by 100% The people of Paragon need to remove all previous board members and Town attorneys, and start fresh with a emergency non-biased vote of all new and qualified people, unrelated people!

The IRS taking over the town would do nothing but benefit the citizens! Seems odd to hear about budget issues when Goss was issued a brand new 20,000 vehicle just a few years back. These are issues compounded by to many people being related biologically within the same governing body that represents the people.

Financial and Political Data manufactured to make us think we should be paying more for ANYTHING gas? unreal. This must be like the Shortages in the Gulf, and American Energy claiming everything from being a little short on production, to having a spill at sea causing the 2 plus dollar increases we have seen to gas over the last decades. Its funny how Most of us over 30 can remember when there were no real cause for increases, Gas and Petroleum was just about the same regardless of what took place in the refining process, and or the shipment and logistics. It just seems that now days anything from a light bulb going out in a plant to a flat tire on a tanker truck, cause price increases to anything petroleum. Is big oil Lobbyist ever going to slip up and leave room for some of these electric inventions to actually take hold? We can send a robot to Mars and operate it for months/years, but we just cannot figure out how to manufacture batteries that withstand the load needed for electric cars to be practical? This is in-fact the big hold up as defined by the industry, " battery size " and " battery Capacity " and "cost to manufacture these batteries" are the very reason Gas is still more practical, have we heard better excuses? Obvious suppression of any electrical breakthroughs and inventions, along with little to know recognition in the scientific world, and or mainstream media, all contribute to Big Oil's secure future, while we set back and hear their independent studies on just why gas, natural gas, anything refined from crude, will be increasing yet again. And as their studies show, we have really not been paying as much as we thought anyway, they have slipped up, and now its time to really pay.....Gee thanks!

my God, people are going to be afraid to live here. A god percentage of the news stories around here are involving unethical behavior toward kids. Maybe Martinsville should set up a hotline where kids or adults submitting evidence by phone that does lead to an arrest are offered some kind of reward. Maybe since the School board just saved " 60,000 to 100,000 " in " Our best interest " I vote to set this up right away, should be plenty to cover the cost for a full time operator with some legal knowledge, and the setting up of such a hotline in any existing County/City building.

happy to see the state step in. I was also glad to hear that MSD official did in-fact seek investigations during the previous rumors, obviously having taken those actions without public knowledge until now. At least now we are sure to benefit from solid computer and cyber resources, utilized in the new investigation. I'm sure ISP has the city, county and many other forms of investigating bodies, well surpassed in terms of internet/computer analysis, and cyber investigative capability. And we all know to well how 100% of perverts who are computer literate store their dirty deeds, often time without knowing, through the use of computers. Chances are if their were any other young ladies involved, or any relative crimes committed by Mr Wolf, they will soon be displayed for all to see in the form of formal charges. There are more victims then meets the eye here already, I'm sure. Everyone I've talked to goes on and on about how sweet Mr Wolf's wife is, I'm sure shes a significant unseen victim as well.

I agree with Michelle, as great as it may sound to have a fully separate entity serving as coroner, realizing all the obvious benefits, its simply not enough to look past his past. Morgan county simply cannot afford to risk it, furthermore in the event of dispute, involving a future high profile cases/cases, his integrity as well as the counties may come into question. Coroners are challenged quit often these days, with the bulk of death benefits, insurance and even criminal convictions being based on their conclusions and statements. And lets face it, we really do have good police officers around here. Although we are constantly reading, viewing, and hearing of corrupt police officers, officers shooting citizens, abusing their authority, drinking and driving, and even much worse nearly everyday, somewhere in the state, and across the country, we rarely hear of even small issues involving our police, let alone those involving death, rendering coroner involvement.

ladya - Not sure we read the same article, I read the prosecutor stating "its up to him, school officials and others to decide what to do with the rumors" As if that's not the A Typical manner of approach throughout all charges culminated in his office, with the bulk of that choice resting upon his shoulders alone. Now, why would he take this opportunity when ask for his thoughts on this rather serious matter, to do no more then to state what he cannot do and go a tiny bit further to describe the way things have worked since the very first prosecutor was placed? Most are adults here, most are aware of the things that go without saying, such as "hear-say" and needing facts to materialize a case, however I am sure without doubt, 90% of the cases filed, tried, convicted and sentenced in this county are done so with the same or less evidence being presented. So if the prosecutor somehow "decides" to move forward with charges on Johny Whoever because a single police officer has witnessed or thought he witnessed something, then how in the world could he not of at least already ordered up a full investigation, (County) and certainly not (School Internal) to start probing for the facts he has spent the better amount of time tell us do not exist, or have not walked through his door and hit him in the forehead? And being caught in a vehicle with a miner while in the nude, near a playground will certainly bring more charges then just "Public nudity" as they should. He was not exactly by himself, and sexual misconduct with a miner, lewd conduct within a 1000 ft, and a few others are more then warranted here. In the very least, Mr Prosecutors admitting "everyone has heard rumors" followed by concrete proof of Mr Wolf's seemingly no limit to personal control, would be sufficient to probe extensively, and if the prosecutor decides to not move forward, in my opinion Our Chief of polices's reputation would be the next on stage, Wherewith I place little personal faith, simply having a strong ringing of "good ol boy" in my ears even thinking of it, and once the expected sidestep comes out of that office, lets hope the county or state picks this up, Up unto this point, I have always supported Bob, known him my entire life grew up in the same town, I would hope to see him step forward and investigate, and in a lot of ways, I think we would be better off with the county looking into the matter from the get go.

Its always endlessly comical when you see our Martinsville Public figures trying to deny Martinsville's stigmas, publicly. I often ask myself, Does this official, be him/her officer, prosecutor, judge or what have you, think for one second that people in the surrounding counties and States, not watch the news? or read the news? With the rise in social media, its not only possible, but quite common we see an official on TV speaking about his private or classified documents being stolen and exposed for all to read, and go over, and analyze. Everyday people, Voters, the public, you know " We the People" Our officials must have real guts to spew a line of Bull, as free as if they were still living in the 80's, as if they have not noticed the change enveloping them, as they speak. Maybe they have considered this, and really feel there are none of us in the community who pose a real social media threat, but maybe, just maybe, they miscalculated. Either way, as lush as the media environment is today, it seems more wise to choose their words much more carefully.

Its all in the power of social media people, we are seeing it change the world before our eyes, seeing more and more laws passed to suppress it, more leaders being exposed throughout all levels of Government. Its placing more eyes, more organized thoughts and opinions right on the spot light issues. Anyone on the outside would read all this and come to what conclusion? (A) Martinsville is filled with unintelligent people making sarcastic remarks, or (B) There really is a problem in the School systems and accompanying Governing bodies. The best thing to do is tag these comments, set links out throughout google, yahoo, and MSN, State and federal Websites, facebook, Orkut, Twitter, and its bound to catch the eye of an investigative journalist or maybe even someone more effective. It was these very type conversations that exploded and completely flipped the Egyptian Government, and so many more. Its like a virus, the more you say, the more you post and the more you reach out, the farther it spreads, the more pressure that is placed and directed upon these type officials who think its "Their way" and "Their concerns" only needing to be addressed. It would'nt take much at this point, with figures like Mr Furniss and his backwoods, limited, silly, revealing comments, as well as the prosecutors more then obvious sidestep of justice. People would have to be blind to not see that, and its certainly there to be read, its in his own words, just help it to get to the people! Scan and post the links! That whole deal was an excellent clear glass view into the God Ol Boy network at its best. Judging by the comments online throughout Google, Youtube and other sites, its good to know that at least everyone outside of Morgan County seen that fact. And that this point it sure would not take much of a push to tip their little scheme over and watch it come tumbling down, whether Mr Boren thinks "this is not a one size fits all" type violation or not. Judging by that outcome I'd just about bet Mr Wolf gets all his benefits and probably a plaque and a ride home in an MSD paid for vehicle upon conclusion of the School Board Meeting.

I'm wondering how they manage to pick up on every students slightest little tick, or maybe a small step out of place, with eagle eye accuracy, following up like a swat team with a diligent response, carefully prepared paperwork, letters sent out, phone calls made and immediate action taken, of which is the student fails to adhere somberly, he or she is "hung" for lack of a more appropriate word (and believe me I tried thinking of one) but they just can't seem to pick up on something like this, under their noses, with actual hardware (The Key She Had) being made and distributed to make the crime more convenient. Maybe that's just it I guess when you have your nose that far up every students behind all year, you tend to miss important things. Maybe they thought if they just keep pumping out referrals and kicking kids out that everything would move just move along fine and dandy. Its a complete joke, the whole group from top to bottom, if there were one valuable individual in that mess the first thing they would do is fire everyone.
