| nobodyimportant Saturday, December 5, 2009: 9:43 am More from nobodyimportant | I know absolutely nothing about this case other than what is reported here, but the account as written is not at all unusual. If you have been in courtrooms at all, you will observe that in most cases there are multiple charges filed. During the pre-sentence phases of the proceedings, the defense attorney, the prosecutor, and the judge explore middle ground for a plea agreement. Usually, such an agreement involves dropping the charges other than the one to which the defendant agrees to plead guilty. This plea agreement process saves the taxpayers much money and an over-worked judicial system much time. There is no reason to believe this defendant was treated any differently than others. |
