I commend Dr Wood for doing this! If now some of the other Supts around Morgan County would do the same-thats where the monies go.

I have to say that the meeting went alot better then I thought it would. The students questions were the questions that were based on alot of the rumors that have been floating around Monrovia. I thought she did a wonderful job of explaining the situation and asking for the communities ideas. With her being new to the school system and the area, I know that I have heard mixed opinions about her. Yesterdays meeting with her explain both what the problem was and what and how the district was looking for solutions, as well as the offer for the salary decrease really put a more positive light on Dr. Wood. Now if the governor and lawmakers would just pull their heads out it would be nice!

Kudos to Dr. Wood for this step, which has set the tone for the district's teachers. If you take a look at area superintendent's salaries and benefits on the Indianapolis Star website, you'll see that she is already one of the lowest compensated superintendents - quite a bit less than the previous superintendent who squandered away a surplus on oak furniture for his office and lots of other non-necessities.
