If this was just another joe blow doing wrong nothing would have even been printed! I wanted to vomit when i read this article! Why dont the hiding little a**hole who wrote this put there name on it? Because I know for a fact not all distorter time employees feel this way. Just another reason i cant wait until my subscription is up. After this comment I hope more and more people see that we dont need this lousy paper to keep up on things! We have the Indianapolis star that can give us the right info and not sit back behind a desk and think they are some big shot. So whoever wrote this article grow some balls and display your name like everyone else who writes a letter to the editor has to. What a pathetic pos this paper is. I hope your not banged up in a car wreck or your trapped in your house because the guys with lights may just shut them off out of fear that some jackass like you will bash them for trying to help someone!!!! |

| A Hoosier Wednesday, March 17, 2010: 6:26 am More from A Hoosier | Dear theman and forthecitizens, Are you kidding me? If you need a name to go with this article, you can use mine. Your volunteer fireman is the fool here not the Reporter Times. My first thought when I read this article was; is this guy mentally retarded? If he cannot make decisions any better than this, please do not send him to my house if it is on fire, he would probably try to put it out with gasoline and run over my dog. Please feel free to cancel your subscription to the Reporter-Times immediately, why wait? I am certain that the Indianapolis Star will be down here promptly to cover our county council meeting, town council meeting, talk with our mayor, and write about all the activities of our local not-for-profit agencies. Right? If you not aware, your local newspaper is your first line of defense for democracy. Signed, Rhamnousia |
| Bubba Wednesday, March 17, 2010: 10:48 am More from Bubba | Editorial Staff, I agree 100% |
| mcbacker Wednesday, March 17, 2010: 10:57 am More from mcbacker | I don't know Mr. O'Dell and only know about this incident by what I have read in the Reporter. However, if that were my daughter that Mr. O'Dell followed and then got out and tried to reprimand in his supreme power as a VOLUNTEER firefighter, he would be worried about a lot more than his administrative leave. I totally believe it was a power thing and totally out of line. He needs to leave that to the police. |
| Give Me A Break Thursday, March 18, 2010: 8:57 am More from Give Me A Break | TheManIsHere: It's called an editorial board. They don't print their names because it's easy to find out who sits on the Board. I haven't looked lately at a hard copy of the paper but most newspapers actually print the names of their editorial board. |
| Themanishere Friday, March 19, 2010: 4:00 pm More from Themanishere | A Hoosier, Its not about what he did or what he didnt do its about how the Reporter shouldnt have written there own input on this matter. If I was Mr Odell I too wouldnt return calls to them. Its none of there Biz and its a personal matter. If he wasnt a firefighter nothing would have ever been published. If they want to get the community involved with so called politics lets run a poll and see how many citizens want to actually join the two fire departments. ( Martinsville and Washington Twp) And also these citizens of Washington Twp who are getting walked on and about to be annexed into the city. The city cant keep up with what they have now ie. sewer and water so how are they going to offer and take on 1800 more homes? My well and septic work just fine! If i wanted chlorinated water I would go out and put a pump in my pool and drink it. Actually im not a betting guy but i bet my pool has less chemicals then Martinsville water! |

| Spanky Friday, March 19, 2010: 6:28 pm More from Spanky | I have a sneakin' suspicion that Themanishere and ForthecitizensofWT just might be the same imbecile............HELLO JAKE! |
| alphatango Monday, March 22, 2010: 8:49 pm More from alphatango | This incident represents many things, but to classify it as a "personal matter" is foolish. Mr. O'dell broke the law, and not unlike any other criminal, his actions are made public and are subjected to public scrutiny. It has been mentioned that, "If he wasnt a firefighter nothing would have ever been published". On the contrary, the sole purpose of the newspaper is to report newsworthy events...and an incident of a volunteer firefighter unlawfully impersonating an officer of the law is definately news. The threat of cancelled subscriptions will do little to change the news being reported because the news in Martinsville will, for the most part, remain unchanged. THEMANISHERE, I sincerely hope that when you stated, "If they want to get the community involved with so called politics lets run a poll and see how many citizens want to actually join the two fire departments. ( Martinsville and Washington Twshp", you weren't implying that members of said departments somehow hold a higher position within our social structure due to the nature of their profession. Firefighters, regardless of title, volunteer to perform taks that are inherently dangerous and for this they should be honored, however, to suggest that their profession provides them with a certain "freedom of manuever" in their environment, is rediculous. Ok..so you're a firefighter sticking up for one of his own, we got it, thanks for your service. But I urge you to be careful with your word choice...if you want to compare service records we can do that. If find it intersenting that you stated, " So whoever wrote this article grow some balls and display your name like everyone else who writes a letter to the editor has to", while you failed to include your name or title on your posts. Furthermore, when you stated, " I hope your not banged up in a car wreck or your trapped in your house because the guys with lights may just shut them off out of fear that some jackass like you will bash them for trying to help someone!!!!", it sounds more like you "hope" the writer does get banged or trapped in his/her house so that YOU can shut your lights off in fear. Did you notice how I completely destroyed your arguement through the analysis of your text and by directly quoting your rhetoric? Abe Trindle |
