A Hoosier, Thanks for the info, I will try to attend. I'd love to be there! I hope I can answer your question about Israel, and keep it simple because I’m not very smart. Israel has a long and wonderful history as you well know. Modern Israel came about after WWII. The USA and it's allies divided up the region so Israel would have a safe State in which to live after the Holocaust. If you ever get a chance there is plenty of material on this and it's very interesting. The surrounding Countries of course, resented the land taken for Israel and they have hated and fought with them since. That is a very simple answer to your question. The history of the region since WWII is nothing but anti-Semite, as it is today. In my heart of hearts there is one thing I know to be true and one thing I believe to be true with everything I have. What I know is the Jews are Gods chosen people. What I feel is if we forsake them, we will be forsaken, and rightfully so. I'm glad you're reading the Bible, does my heart good and will yours too. The Old Testament is the history of our beginning and the laws that God has given his people to follow. The new Testament is Gods love and forgiveness through his Son, to us, the sinners. He loves us so much, he knows we can't live without sinning. We are forgiven. But that doesn't mean we can run amuck, we must still strive to live a good and pure life for him and ourselves. It is also the start of Christianity, and Pauals letters about the Church. I will advise you this, read the Bible, take it word for word. People love to talk about Armageddon, and make movies about 2012. God said even the Angels don't know of the end of time. Hey...I believe HIM. God doesn't want us trying to guess what is going on, he loves us, he wants us to know everything we need to know. When God says love your neighbor, love them. when God says forgive, forgive. When God says knock the dust of evil off your feet, get to stomping. now it can be figuratively, but do it. Don't let people interpret what God is saying, you can read exactly what he is saying. Enjoy reading the greatest novel, history book, and mystery ever written. You know what’s neat; you know the Author........personally!! |

Man has always felt an inner tug to worship. Even without knowing any of them, we sense that this world is not all just a big accident, a freak of nature. For too many years, I treated my religion casually. I attended church (when it didn't conflict with something really important). I avoided getting too close to others in church. I held onto areas of my life that I felt needed my control. In other words, I wasn't a Christian....I just carried the label. Almost 6 years ago, a very astute man, my current minister, laid a challenge before me that put my faith (I really can't say I had any at the time) to the test. I reluctantly picked up the challenge (the truth is, I could not come up with one of my convenient excuses). I thank God for placing that opportunity before me. I became engaged in a ministry that changed my life and my eternal destination. That's right....I called myself a Christian, but I was bound for Hell. I was doing the "religious" things. I attended church. I sang in the choir. I put what I thought was a reasonable offering in the plate. That was the sum total of my faith. The ministry in which I was challenged to participate in was the vehicle God used to get my heart. Something Liberty said rings true at this point. "All Christians must focus on what Glorifies the Father." We were created to serve and please Him. That sounds a bit like God is self-centered. But he knows that, left to our own devices, we will serve ourselves. We came into this world with a sin nature and sinning is what comes naturally, putting ourselves before anyone else, including Him. We can become distracted from what we should be doing by all sorts of things. Not only can we become pre-occupied with serving ourselves, we can get caught up in lesser important things like who is running the country. I'm not ready to throw President O'Bama under the bus for where and by whom he was raised. Thank God, none of us were. To give you a peek into the events yet to occur, when God's army (no tanks, guns, or missiles, just His word, defeats the enemies of Israel. 'I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle ...' (Zech 14.2) Focus on the words "all nations." Does that include the United States? You bet it does!! That's right, even we will turn on Israel. The bodies of our young soldiers will lie rotting on the fields of Har-Magedon (Armageddon). So what do we do with that? What we don't do is worry that this president or any other to come, if there are any to come, will offend their emmisaries and leaders. You see, all that takes away from our purpose. We should be preparing for Jesus' return. We do that by deepening our relationship with Him and bringing others to Him. God's plan is unfolding. Nothing we can do will alter that, slow it down, or hasten it's conclusion. |

There have been many people who have attempted to assign these figurative animals to nations, and even rulers (bear = Russia, etc). Which interpretation is right? I don't know. Things seem to be lining up to at least set the stage for Jesus' return to gather his church and set up his reign on Earth. There is a learned presentation of end times prophecy that I heartedly recommend. Dr. David Jeremiah (used to pastor a church in Fort Wayne and now is in San Diego, has a book and cd series out called "What in The World Is Going On?" If you can get hold of theither, it is a good study of what has already transpired and what is to come (by his reading of the Word) It is all a great mystery. I believe it it remains a ministry because only God knows the day and hour that Jesus is to return for his church (the rapture) and then his second coming. The fact that we don't know and will never be comfortable that we know the exact time and order of the events is part of God's plan for us. He wants us to trust Him and just be ready whenever and however it unfolds. |
