| Lassiter Thursday, April 22, 2010: 11:37 pm More from Lassiter | Mrs. Mayfield successfully moved 57K back into the county budget last year when asked to save money in the clerks office. we need more smart conservative people like her in our government at all levels. |
| Kay Friday, April 23, 2010: 1:25 am More from Kay | Ringer is the best choice for Sheriff, as for Downey he is a nice guy but what has he done or said he is going to do(he's already had seven years to due something). We know he farmed for his grandfather who was once Sheriff, we know he knows charlie beaver, we know he goes to the ISA every year (What do they do for Morgan County?) The Cheif Deputy choice should be a strength that you would announce up front and be proud of (he has not for some reason?) Time for the good ole boy system to go bye bye. RINGER,MANLEY,COOPER |
| Greg Friday, April 23, 2010: 7:53 am More from Greg | For sheriff, I'm going with the only guy who isn't currently on the department: Bob Jones. Ringer would be my second choice. Manley for trustee, since Downing's loss of evidence helped get Jake Garner only 6 months for 24 counts of arson and there STILL is no coroners report on the Lanham incident. Mayfield has done the job she was asked to do without giving in to pressure to fudge the books. I encourage her to continue to keep the keep the numbers honest. JONES, MANLEY, and MAYFIELD. |
| A Hoosier Friday, April 23, 2010: 8:44 am More from A Hoosier | I appreciate your comments on the candidates at the local level but what about your congressional candidates? TheRefounders.us will be hosting a candidate meet and greet on April 29th at the Mooresville Public Library at 6:30pm to introduce you to some of the congressional candidates. Hope you all can make it so that you will also be able to make an informed decision about the folks you would like to see in our United States Congress. |

| American Worker Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 4:34 pm More from American Worker | vote for Jim Bolin, Madison Twp Trustee; Dan Downing, Washington Twp Trustee.... at least he finished his FULL term unlike Scotty Manley; John L Clark, Mooresville Town Council !! VOTE NO TO VIRGINIA PERRY FOR MOORESVILLE !!!! VOTE NO FOR MCDONOUGH FOR MADISON, VOTE NO FOR MCCLURE FOR MADISON !!! VOTE YES FOR JIM MILES, MADISON TWP BOARD THE ONLY REASON MCDONOUGH AND MCCLURE ARE RUNNING AGAINST JIM BOLIN IS THEY WERE LET GO FROM THEIR DUTIES AS MADISON TWP EMPLOYEES BECAUSE OF SUBSTANDARD PERFORMANCE !! |
| LovesMooresville Wednesday, April 28, 2010: 4:08 pm More from LovesMooresville | If you want to get rid of the good old boy system then you should vote for Mae Cooper not Peggy Mayfield. If Mrs. Mayfield is so honest then she should have insisted her husband, Dean, take his punishment for his DUI just like Mr. Furniss has done, instead of their lawyer getting the charges dismissed because her buddies in the prosecutors office didn't do their job. Just because your wife is a county employee doesn't mean you should be able to drive drunk and endanger innocent people. When Mr. Mayfield seriously injures or kills someone I'm not sure how those responsible for his case will be able to look at themselves in the mirror. |

SHAME ON YOU LovesMooresville for your CHEAP MADE UP SLANDER. I can see your promoting your pick but to make up slanderous lies about Peggy Mayfield is not acceptable. That is something only a liberal would do and we don't allow that taint in this county. Or do we ? . |
| A Hoosier Wednesday, April 28, 2010: 7:58 pm More from A Hoosier | Here’s your made up slander: T. Dean Mayfield, owner of the Mayfield Insurance Agency and husband of the Morgan County clerk, was charged Wednesday morning with one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person. According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Mooresville police officer Tom Whitley, a motorist observed Mayfield's vehicle nearly hit another vehicle and driving left of center on Old Ind. 67. The motorist reported to police when the vehicle pulled up to the Mayfield Insurance building on South Madison Street, the garage door opened as the vehicle pulled inside. After it was inside, the door closed. The witness observed the garage until police arrived on the scene. Whitley found the man who was identified as Mayfield, 46, of 1825 Red Fox Court, lying on the gravel berm of the railroad that runs behind the building. An ambulance was called, but Mayfield refused treatment. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor and carries a sentence of up to a year in jail. According to the probably cause affidavit, Mayfield said he had been drinking at a friend's home and that he had called his wife to come pick him up at the office. Mayfield failed several sobriety tests and refused to take others, according to Whitley's report. Whitley gave Mayfield a breath test with a portable breath test and he registered a .16, twice the legal limit of .08. Mayfield refused to take the chemical test. Whitley obtained a court order to take Mayfield's blood. According to the report, Mayfield asked police several times if they knew who he was. Mayfield has been active in Boy Scouts, served on county boards, involved in the Morgan County Republican Party and contributed to the campaign of Martinsville Common Council candidacy of Eric Bowlen. He is the husband of Morgan County Clerk Peggy Mayfield. I would say there was enough evidence to convict Dean Mayfield. The dent in his car, the eyewitness, the dent in the parked car, and the drunk man on the railroad tracks asking “Do you know who I am?” that blew a .16, twice the legal limit. And the state failed to bring charges in a timely manner. What a hoot? Welcome to the good ole boys and girls club. |
