| Wilbur Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 7:05 am More from Wilbur | I still do not understand what the criminal charges have to do with the Department policy charges. It's two seperate investigations on two totally different violations. One criminal, one departmental. I understand getting your ducks in a row and treating people fairly, but why can't both investigations go on simultaneously? I know I'm being redundant, but.....these are two different animals, treat it as such. |
| Greg Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 7:37 am More from Greg | I am with you, Wilbur. It seems to me that we should be able to disipline based on department rules, and let the criminal investigation do whatever it decides to do separately. From my discussions with people that should know about this stuff, it seems the city is just scared to death of a wrongful termination suit. I don't know why they feel they can't proceed. Even if the tazing is considered a gray issue, the slapping for a foul mouth and incomplete/false reporting is a given. It's almost like the tail is wagging the dog here. |
| Give Me A Break Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 8:21 am More from Give Me A Break | From everything I've read, it's a matter of Law, people. The Mayor and the Chief have to rely on their legal counsel, like it or not, and he has advised them that this is the way they have to go. If someone pays for counsel then they must trust that they are receiving reliable information, right? Maybe the R/T should do an interview with the City attorney and have him explain. |
| Mrs. A Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 11:44 am More from Mrs. A | Sounds to me like the 10 year old kid needed some pretty heavy discipline and the officers gave it to him. I fail to see the problem here. |
| Liberty Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 6:59 pm More from Liberty |
The problem is it's against the law for police to discipline anyone. |
| A Hoosier Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 9:35 pm More from A Hoosier | I am sick of this whole situation. This has drug on long enough. Time for the city personnel to man up. |
| Lower Taxes Less Gov Tuesday, April 27, 2010: 11:17 pm More from Lower Taxes Less Gov | It's as simple as this. Pass the buck onto someone else, in the brotherhood of law, to let them off. Than our morgan county's finest can say their hands are clean. They didnt make the decision or if the finding is to charge them again they can say their hands are clean. I think a jury of their peers "us" should decide their fate. If it was you or me thats what we would get!!! |
| Living In Reality Wednesday, April 28, 2010: 8:01 am More from Living In Reality | As I told everyone early on the next step would be for Sonnega to wash his hands of this and appoint a special prosecutor. This is exactly what was done to my family. Why ask the Sheriff's Department to do an investigation when this guy is going to do one of his own. Mr. Sonnega could have appointed a special prosecutor a month ago. What really burns my butt is that no one else is afforded a full investigation before they are charged. Yes these two men are innocent until proven guilty but they DO NOT DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT. I will be downtown on Thursday 4/29 from 5-7pm with my protest sign. Anyone else who feels the same please join me. Lets quit talking out it and do something. |
| Tomcatt68 Wednesday, April 28, 2010: 9:54 am More from Tomcatt68 | It took Sonnega almost a month to ask for a special prosecutor, what is up with that? Just a delay tactic in hopes of finding Jennings a way out. I have already started drafting letters to the appropriate State and Federal agency with complaints. Those agencies may not take action, but I will keep sending follow up letters. And we wonder why people laugh and make fun of Martinsville. With actions like this going on we all look like redneck white-trash. |
| Kay Wednesday, April 28, 2010: 1:23 pm More from Kay | Liberty~~~then dont call the polcie when a child is "unruly" or throwing a fit. Of course there has to be a Speical Prosecutor. If not then you people would be on here saying that the Prosecutor did not prosecute properly. |
| Liberty Wednesday, April 28, 2010: 1:58 pm More from Liberty |
Hey Kay, I didn't call anyone, really, you can call home and ask my wife. It was some incompetent ? who did it, not me. What did I do ? I can prove where I was , what I was doing. I wasn't even on the phone. I'm pretty sure I was reading the paper on the toliet at the time of the police attack and I have an eye and nose witness to prove it. Really. If I was a policeman responding to that call I would have arrested the adult caretaker for neglect of a minor. Seeing they refused to take the responsibility of a 10 year old acting up while in their care. Period. What's next, will they call the police the next time their husband doesn't mow the grass short enough ? Please believe it wasn't me who called. . |
