Nice follow-up editorial. However, there are a few points to elaborate. 1. There is no good explanation as to why INDOT will not allow signs to be posted directing commerce. 2. This “minor” road improvement is killing individual businesses. Period. In addition to the business owners barrage of phone calls to those responsible for this lack of direction/loss of business, I would think that Town Council members should be contributing THEIR efforts to help solve this problem!
And finally, imagine what the construction of I-69 will do to kill an entire town. Businesses in Martinsville will not be left to sink or swim due to the cutoff of access DURING construction (which is tragic enough), but instead, TWENTY-NINE businesses, (current operating businesses) structures and all, within the city limits of Martinsville will be demolished along with their tax base and employment opportunities.

State road 42 between Mooresville and Monrovia is a testimony to how inconsiderate and poorly organized INDOT really is! They remind me of the old "home improvement" businesses that sold jobs they couldn't man as promised, but "spiked" the job so the owner couldn't back out of the sale.

If INDOT can't man or fund the jobs they've started, don't "spike" too many to complete. They are not only hurting businesses, but costing people who travel these roads time and gas money.
