Glad this season is over. Next year a new set of Board members need to be elected. Just in the last week; one board member quit, one was thrown out of a game he was coaching and one tried to fight a parent after a game. Let's try to bring some class to the little league. If you want to be a board member do it because you want to help all kids in the league . . . not just your own.

mcbacker,

Here's a quote for the board members:

Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them. James Baldwin

I guess I just expect adults to act like adults! Most of the parents forget it's not about them! They forget it is just "little league baseball".

I believe My husband is one of the board members who quit last week and let me tell you why....First your comment its not just about thier kids...My youngest still plays in this league..Not the best but not the worse..My husband did not coach him and did alot for the kids down there that had nothing to do with our kids or our family. My husband spent hours ever week down at those ballfields...getting them ready for the season; cleaning the field and preparing the mound after and before each game...working in the concession stand...He built not 1 but 2 pressboxes at the ballfield...And no NOT JUST FOR THE BOYS...so that the league could have a chance at hosting DISTRICT...but Im sure nobody in this town realizes the time people on the board put into those fields...Everyone just wants to pay thier $70.00 and complain....My husband quit because of parents like You...who they don't want to help or make a difference in this town or with our kids..they just want to complain...Tell me how the lights not working on a little girls softball field is my husbands fault...He is not an electrician...He did not turn the power off on those fields...there was no juice getting to the electric box which DUKE has to come fix...Im sooo sorry to the parents who don't realize; 2500 people in our state had NO POWER and Duke did not make your little girls playing that night a priority...

I encourage you to get off your a...and go down to those ballfields and make a difference..and just see what kind of treatment you get from the beloved parents of the ballplayers. What is really sad is you are right...Many parents forget this is for FUN and trust me ...I really doubt the ones complaining will ever do a thing to make this place a better place to live....So next time you want to complain about VOLUNTEERS...lets see what you have done or can do...CLEAN UP DAY AT THE BALLFIELDS WILL BE SOON>>>WILL YOU BE THERE????

Nurse, I now know who your husband is and can honestly say he was one of the better board members. I actually saw him down there several times this summer. Sadly, it can't be said about others. My husband has actually been on the board previously and has coached for several years down there. It was always about the team and not just our kid. For some reason that league has always had issues which hasn't changed much over the years. I am hopeful that some new board members will be elected next year cause quite honestly the children of this town need this little league.
