I would love to see the downtown look better, but the fact is that all
downtowns in small towns are dead. Nobody goes downtown, except to do
what they have to, but not to look around or really doing any shopping
there now. There are very nice resturants around the square, but this
is because of the courthouse, which one day they will have to build a
bigger and newer build, old build don't last forever.

I believe in downtown Martinsville. I know it can be beautiful again. Not the same as in the earlier days when we had wonderful stores, J. C. Penney, Sears, drug stores, movie theaters etc. It will take work and effort to get this done. I am sorry I am not able to contribute to this hard work. I can not help but defend Martinsville and get upset when people say Martinsville is not worth saving. I know we have had a lot of bad things happen this year and now our reputation as a town is horrible. Just go to do a search on internet for Martinsville and see what I mean. Our elected officials, police, their families, and school officials have got to change their way of life and stop feeding the media.Thank you to the committees who are working so hard to create a town we can be proud of.

I think they need to tear down a city block from Morgan st to Pike and from main to marion put in a public park. the square is nothing more than life support to the Courthouse now anyway
