Dismissal, suspension urged in Tasering incident

| Tomslick Wednesday, June 30, 2010: 8:02 pm More from Tomslick | Since the officers were cleared of any charges, this has now become a political witchhunt. I would bet that the current regime "ruining" the city police dept is concerned that Jennings might have been planing a run for mayor. Not only do certain Officers shoot people in the back, but they also stab thier co-workers in the back. If currant PR for the police dept had made an original statement to the media that "officers used force necesary to stop a violent juvenile", it would have been the truth. But not in this back-stabbin town. |
| Liberty Wednesday, June 30, 2010: 10:18 pm More from Liberty | Criminal charges is a completely separate issue and has no connection to the employees job performance. I a man who worked for a fried chicken restaurant got into a food fight with another employee and a chicken breast hit a customer in the face and the the prosecutor decided not to pursue assault charges against him he would still be fired but the owner of the chicken house for mis-using a chicken breast as a weapon. The mis-use of a weapon by officers on a handicapped child is not doing their job. They made a big mistake. It's their job to first assess and establish what crime is being committed. In this case there wasn't even a crime being committed. If a little mentally handicapped boy, having a reaction to his medication can't be spotted or even if the little 10 year old boy was robbing a bank and trying to kick a cop to can't use a weapon on him. If the sissy out of shape cop can't wrap his hands around the boy from the rear and lay him on the ground using his superior body weight ( as trained) then he a danger to the public has no business wearing a badge. If two cops can't do it but rather use a weapon instead the both aren't fit for duty. This isn't about someones job. It's about the public safety of the communities citizens. Which just happens to be the policeman's boss. According to those in the department and some around town there have been an over zealous, bully problems for years by particular cops. This has tarnished the reputation of all those in the dept. It appears those on the force don't want him around any more. I say go for it guys, clean your mess up. While your at it their are two more who have illegally used their uniformed weaponed position to intimidate a business owner as a favor to a buddy landlord. Of course there wasn't police reports filed I think there are documented recordings (hidden video and audio) available. If that suit is filed this town will have so much media down it's throat it will be pitiful. Some people just wants to give the Mayor a chance to clean things up. Most around town aren't political as some think. They just want to live in a corruption free community. But, if given a chance and the chance is wasted then the public will do what ever it takes and if the courts are the only recourse then I won't blame anyone for using them in just trying to clean things up. . |
