|I guess I don't understand why it is such a "big decision" if it would fulfill a "State Mandate". Does Morgan County consider "State Mandates" just "State Suggestions"? I'm sure the Commisioners read these comments so I would appreciate one of you enlightening me.|

|1) The pay between the two different departments is one of the major issues. Is the county going to soak up the difference in pay and bring the lower paid dispatchers to the higher? Likewise would the city do the same? Split the difference? Have dispatchers doing the same job at different rates simply because of departments?|
2) Will they dispatch everybody (Police/Fire/EMS) or only Law Enforcement?
3) Will they be trained to handle medical EMS calls or handed off to someone like Rural Metro?
4) Who will have final responsibility over dispatch?
These are just a few of the major issues. I don't have answers and really do not care since I do not have a dog in the fight. I just want to have continuity of care when I pickup the phone to call.

You cant just take 2 dispatch centers and say ok I want you guys to report here at this one starting monday at 7am. It doesnt work that way. One they have to have enough room that will benefit atleast 4 dispatchers at a time. Also who are the two that are going to be joined? Martinsville and Mooresville? Or Martinsville and the County or the County and Mooresville? You also have to move Radios, switch all the 911 lines over, and so on and so on. Its just not a up and move deal. I venture to say it will be the County and Martinsville joining and leaving great ol mooresville up there by themselves. Its the smart thing to do so if a tornado or flood comes thru Mooresville and wipes them out then they still have a operating system in Martinsville and the same if Martinsville gets hit again then mooresville has a operating system. So many issues to figure out before they can move. Plus the State and Federal authorities have to give the ok, and you know how long that can take waiting on the Federal Government lol.
