Oh yes I knew she would just get a slap on the hand! But let a normal taxpayer who abides by the law and isn't married to someone get caught doing this and see what they get!Way to go Morgan County again!

Citizen. It is unfortunately quite common to hear remarks such as yours in cases like this. To start, I know absolutely nothing about this case, as I suspect is the case also with you. But I do know something about the criminal justice system and how it operates in Indiana in general and Morgan County in particular.

The report of the court's actions, if accurate, are not a reason to make a claim of "insider bias." It is rare, and I do mean rare for a person to receive jail time for a first or even a second offense. What is reported here is completely in line with sentencing practices for the entire population.

It is likely that my post will draw a response from somebody who says otherwise, and there may be examples of situations where a person gets the book thrown at them right out of the gate, but believe me, it is rare! Just don't assume that this case is in some way being handled differently than if it were you or me.
