Martinsville would retain the school and give them a top grade facility. But the ride for the kids would so long.....

I would rather home school then subject my children to the Martinsville school district. Eminence school board needs a new president and needs to inform the parents what is going on. To read this in the paper first is totally wrong. Shame on you board for not keeping the community informed.

Sounds like Mr Nugent is ready to sell the school system down the river. Anybody know anything about one of the school board members recently moving to Monrovia?? Apparently she already has one of her children enrolled in Monroe-Gregg Schools. If she is living in Monrovia how can she still be a school board member here?? If she's not living in Monrovia...is she paying tuition to Monroe-Gregg for her child to attend there?? Things that make you go hmmmm.....

i agree Uncle Joe. Heard the same about the same board member you are talking about. Its a shame our school board is working against us and not for us. Wish I could take back my school boaqrd member votes.

Some of the school systems rumored to be a part of the possible agreement — the Monroe-Gregg School District, the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville and Cloverdale Community School Corp. — said they had not spoken formally with Eminence about consolidating.

These talks have been going on for months at the board meetings. Yet, if you read the board minutes for each month of 2010, they have never listed these discussions in their official minutes which are posted on school website. Also, it is rumored that the president's children attend Monrovia, isn't this an ethical concflict. Why should we send our children Cloverdale - out of county. HMMM, seems like Monrovia would be the optimal choice, location, special education, sports, etc.

I would seriously wonder about sending high school children to another school. All through the years they would be eels and then change. How confusing is this. They wouldn't grow up with who they would be in high school with, would have academic differences and with being in Eminence, they would not have the same caliper of band, sports and would trail the larger school's population and may not be able to participate. How fair does this sound?

Monrovia is full. They already need portable classrooms for their brand new elementary school. How about focusing on EDUCATION instead of SPORTS. That is the primary reason kids go to school....to learn...not play kick-ball.
