Now with that being said, There is no reason that in 2010 that they did not have a cell phone with them. Dicks sporting goods has plenty of waterproof containers to put cell phones, keys ect in. One short phone call and all of this could have been avoided. |
| Arse Thursday, September 9, 2010: 12:00 pm More from Arse | Glad they're safe. But this guy's an idiot and needs to receive a bill from our county commissioners and the state. |
| Liberty Thursday, September 9, 2010: 12:39 pm More from Liberty | Can you imagine the punishment he's receiving from Momma, making her think here baby's and their dumb dad were dead. All night long. I can't think of any area along the river that a house can't be found within a 1/2 an hour walk, even an hour carrying a 6 year old, not to mention no cell phone ? After his rescue, Short, 35, told investigators " it got dark last night". I think this statement may go down in history under some category. He chose to stop on a sand bar instead of the river bank. Humm.. Maybe Morgan County politics might be in his future aspirations. Sounds like he will be sleeping on the couch for a long-long time. That is if it will fit in the dog house. . |
| mcbacker Thursday, September 9, 2010: 1:12 pm More from mcbacker | What was the father thinking? Don't those boys have to go to school today? or Liberty maybe they are homeschooled (heaven forbid). Didn't he care about what his wife was thinking might have happened to them? Thank God they are all safe and hopefully the father will just go on the next trip by himself! |
| Justamother Thursday, September 9, 2010: 1:38 pm More from Justamother | His story sounds as fishy as the fish he was going to catch for breakfast. There is no way possible that he could not have heard the searchers. if he was going to catch fish for breakfast was he not able to light a fire at dark so the searchers could find them? It was cold last night. Were they prepared? Probably not as he did not have a cell phone. It does not sound as if he planned on arriving to be picked up.Think of the man hours put in to find him plus the worry of the family. He needs training on what to do if lost. |

mc, your not picking on me are you ? If they are homeschooled they just learned a lesson no GEC could have taught, like " it got dark last night" and a sand bar is safer than the bank and why it's important to figure how fast and how far your going so you can determine the time it will take. I think the problem is the father wasn't homeschooled but rather forced through a GEC. Since homeschooled children out perform in every category and are also better socialized why would you say " (heaven forbid)". Oh, I see, heaven forbid any future fathers aren't homeschooled. On that we can agree. :) P.S. Just because one makes a living fixing broken bones and then teaching people how to walk again doesn't mean they should promote car accidents. They should promote safer and better forms of transportation and hope it puts them out of that job. For those who love children this thinking should be multiplied by 100. :):) |
| mcbacker Thursday, September 9, 2010: 3:07 pm More from mcbacker | I'm with you Justamother. Liberty . . . just joking with you but you lost me on the P.S. Oh well, we can agree to disagree about the schooling as I'm sure we all know whether GEC or homeschooled that it is gonna get dark every night! LOL :) |
| Ed Thursday, September 9, 2010: 3:52 pm More from Ed | Just one more reason to administer a test in order to reproduce. |
| Liberty Thursday, September 9, 2010: 4:28 pm More from Liberty | Hey MC, I think Ed has the best idea. Hope your having a good day. God Bless, Oh ya P.S. The P.S. was for encouragement to the Good GEC teachers who righteously perform a ministry each day, making the best of a bad situation, that might get caught-up in the NEA propaganda. Sorry for the confusion. . |

| artsandcraftsy Thursday, September 9, 2010: 5:40 pm More from artsandcraftsy | I agree with Justamother. Something has seemed off to me about the story every time I have seen it on the news today. The boys seemed to not know quite what to say when asked about the situation... and they didn't seem to be happy to see their mom, which was odd to me. The father looked wild eyed and nervous... something is just off. |
| acres2001 Thursday, September 9, 2010: 6:27 pm More from acres2001 | Can't believe people are this stupid. Yes, stupid. Another reason not to admit you live in Morgan County. Why all the media hype?? Hard up for news? Sorry to be so negitave, but really !!! |
