Geez, I have seen crap on Facebook about this too...people drive me crazy...think OUTSIDE Martinsville and stop relying on some piddly little bank for this info for a change!!!!!!!!!!

You can dial 800-WEATHER (800-932-8437), stay on the line for weather conditions in the calling area represented by your phone #. So that means if you have a home phone in Martinsville, just stay on the line & ignore the next paragraph.

OR

if you're calling from a cell ph # that isn't for Martinsville or want weather for a different area...hit option 1 at the 1st menu, option 1 at the 2nd menu, and option 2 at the 3rd menu. You will then be prompted to enter your zip code.

It gives you the time, current temp, current weather conditions, wind speed & direction, humidity, and barometric pressure.

HOW ABOUT THAT?????

Thanks Sunshine. I ususally get the weather updates online or the weather channel. I realize some folks have neither internet nor the weather channel on TV. Good to know there is a phone option.

There is no reason for anyone to get so incensed at the request to bring back the time and temp. For those of us who have lived here most or all of our lives, there is a sentimental value to that number. I'm sorry that you do not have that nor the nostalgia that goes with it. In this world of constant change, it is the small things that count for something. Just because they do not count for you doesn't mean it doesn't count for another. I'm just sayin.....

In defense of the lady asking for the time and temp. She has no TV and only a radio by choice.Sometimes you might never get either on the radio. I am sure there might be others in this town that do not have a TV, cell phone or the internet.

There is no reason to be so mean spirited. Most people do not know that 1-800-weather exists. You could share that info with others in a way that isn't demeaning.

The entire problem with the world today is the generation of self centered know it all people that wouldn't so much as spit on someone who was on fire to help put them out... but you can bet they're the first to complain when someone treats them poorly.

Whatever happened to respect... how about that?

How about buying a wristwatch and a thermometer....just in case the phone lines should ever go down.....we wouldn't want you to be without the time and temperature for an extended period of time.
I still haven't gotten over the selfish people who closed down the sanitariums. Where in the heck am I supposed to go to get my monthly soak in Artesian water right here in the City of Mineral Water. It's just ridiculous. If someone shows up to take my rotary dial phone that I used to call 342-7171 on they will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

Geez Hugh you must think we are all too slow to understand your name. Please grow up!

I know how to check the weather online, on the television, and on the radio, but I liked hearing a friendly voice at 342-7171 to tell me the time and temperature. They could sell advertisements to off-set the cost of providing that service.
