Within the City of Martinsville, Ohio Street and Mahalasville Street, also known as Mahalasville Road and Mahalasville Pike, are separate streets. Mahalasville Road/Street/Pike is one block west of Ohio Street between Garfield and Walnut; the street on the east side of the mill fronting on Walnut Street.

The Big Four Rail Road turn table was located on the odd shaped piece of land between Circle Street and Mahalasville Road (Street/Pike)and Walnut and Garfield.

The Sandborn Fire Maps, available at the Morgan County Library, have a lot of information concerning what used to be where within Martinsville many years ago. A review of the maps would probably provide information for several articles of historic interest concerning Martinsville. For instance, If I'm remembering correctly, there used to be a carriage shop on East Washington Street. Don't hold me to that location, the aging process is setting in for me. ;-)
