Looks like the folks in Brooklyn have only two real chances to straighten up their town this year, if that's what they really want to do.

Remember folks, the only way to fix the mess is to bring in others that are not involved with it. So here's your chance. If you choose to keep the same people in office, you only have yourselves to blame for the continued situation.

I did notice that nobody is running against Sams in his disrtict though. Interesting, given the outrage we have seen from the towns folk on his recent behavior. Looks like Sams has won this battle afterall.

People, if you want things done differently, you have to step up to the plate. There is no other option. As it is, the more the people of Brooklyn have complained, the more Sams has laughed knowing none of you were willing to challenge him for the seat.

I have often wondered why people will complain about a bad situation, then when they have an oportunity to fix the problem, they slink away and hide hoping that things will fix themselves. Either way, they end up in the same old situation and wonder why things are not getting any better for them. Basically what all this says is that you can't be too unhappy about the situation and that all you really want to do is simply complain.

So now, Sams will find a way to get rid of the new Marshall that everyone in Brooklyn professes to admire and you won't do anything to stop him because none of you stood up to get him out.

Like I said, Sams wins again.

The only chanmce you have now is for someone to step up for a write in campaign to challenge Sams. In other words, you have to have more people in that district write in your name than he gets votes. There's still time, Brooklyn is a tiny village. Surely there must be someone in his district willing to do what is needed. Or at least that is what many of you claim is needed.

What do you really have to lose? I challenge you to step up. Don't just complain about the situation, do something about it. Only you can make the changes needed for your town.

Do you really want Sams to win again?

To Lassiter regarding this comment:

Unbelievable!

It might not have been as clear in the story as we would like, but Frank Sams is running an independant in Dist. 3 against Melissa Bryant (R) and James A Newman Sr. (D). Johnie Boles (I) and Ray Young (R) are running for the open at-large seat.

Isn't there some sort of law or ordinance that says a married couple can't be on the same town council? If there isn't there should be. I hope the people of Brooklyn are smart enough NOT to let that situation occur. Look to the example set by the voters in Mooresville who back in May made sure that brothers no longer controlled 40% of the school board vote.

Thank you for that clarification Brian. Too bad the article didn't point that out.

Glad to see that Brooklyn is making a stand afterall.

Don't feel too bad. I read it that Sams was running unchallenged also. I wonder if Mrs. Bryant needs any help campaigning. Wish I could vote for her.

Rev Sams. LMAO WHAT A JOKE!! Brooklyn we need to vote out these puppets and get people in there aka (bryant, and young) who care about the town and who wants to see it grow and not be the armpit of Morgan County. I have seen so many lies on the news and in this paper from Chi Chi, sams and Newman in the last week its sickening! Mr Sams is a racist and is pathetic! And Newman is his and Boles little puppet! Vote smart this November Brooklyn!!! Get this scum out!
