And again...not a good write up. I am going to assume that the writer has not played sports, or has no understanding of how multiple injuries to key players throughout the season can take a toll on the team as a whole. No mention of the fact that we lost William O'Neal who, at the time was leading the team in offense. No mention of the fact that Schoolcraft was nursing an injury the entire season, Shields and Callon with hand injuries. Clark with shoulder and ankle. Nice try, but again a very negative article.

I also neglected to mention Millis and Smith's high ankle sprains as well, along with some untimely disciplinary actions against a few players that made them unavailable for play. Had the team been healthy the entire year, I am certain that the outcome would have been different. As it is, you had a lot of boys beat up but going out there every week to represent their school and our community. I give them kudos for that.

Come on, Reporter-Times!! You cannot possibly think this "reporter" is accurately covering Martinsville Athletics in a fitting manner. This is yet another example of the poor quality of coverage our school's programs receive. It is very negative, contains a pathetic season recap and does not address any real highlights from a 6-4 season where key injuries were numerous.

How about mentioning a Linebacker who was 6th in the state with 91 solo tackles? Or a Quarterback who threw for almost 2,100 yards & 62% completion percentage? What about a flanker who ran/received for a combined 989 yards? Or a receiver who caught 40 catches for 755 yards? That might too closely resemble an article covering a hometown football team that the community is proud of.

Keep up the journalistic excellence!

Totally agreed artiefan!! We have players that are being looked at by numerous colleges...from both the Junior and Senior classes. We have some great players and had some very positive things that should have been reflected. The senior class was a crucial part of a program turn around. The Junior class will continue to lead...and lead well next year and there were some very promising players in the Soph class who stepped up and played very well. They still had a winning season and have brought some excitement back to the program!
