Let me see if I got this correct. The story above states there will be families that will not be able to be helped with food for a Thanksgiving meal, but, we need to spend our money on decorating a pole to make our town festive. Lets all have something pretty to look at and not worry about the hungry kids.

No MorganCoLvr, you have it completely wrong.

1) Decorating the lamp posts in the downtown area will help to bring good cheer to the people of Martinsville as well as any visitors we may have. And that is something we need here very badly.

2) The article also states that the Manna Mission will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner for those that want one. They only need to show up.

3)I have absolute faith that the people of this community will do everything they possibly can to make sure that those in need will be helped. For both Thanksgiving and Christmas no matter how tough times may be.

4) It is long past the time for negativity amongst ourselves regarding our own community. Instead, let us endeavor to put forth a positive attitude and outlook for ourselves. The negativity only retards our self image and our self respect.

For those interested,

Delynn Jewelery will also serve as a drop off point for Thanksgiving donations.
