Say no to John Barleycorn at the State Fair

Not to mention extreme heat and crowds make people edgy... adding alcohol will be a catalyst for violence. |
| Liberty Tuesday, January 18, 2011: 4:04 pm More from Liberty | You know, it's hard to get away from people doing drugs. All the new restaurants are bars serving food, sports are played in bars the hold sports events. Even family softball serve drugs anymore. Most crime happens around those doing drugs and I too find it reprehensible to think that a family affair like the fair will get destroyed by drugs. It's becoming harder and harder to take your children anywhere that doesn't have the influence of deadly drugs. Even the communities schools are now run by those with drug problems. Folks, how can anyone ever hold a teenager responsible for drug usage when we force the world of drugs upon them. If we don't start electing politicians who will say not to new drug permits we won't be able to get an ice cream cone at dairy queen without our children being influenced by the number one killing drug in the world. Now, I'm of the opinion that if someone doesn't like smoke they don't have to frequent establishments who allow it and I feel the same with those who allow drug usage. I guess I'm just saying were getting a little stir crazy staying home all the time. Now where did I put that ice cream maker...... |

| jdigger Wednesday, January 19, 2011: 4:22 am More from jdigger | I enjoy a cold one now and then but, I don,t think the state fair is the place for it. The fair was ment to be for families and 4H So lets set a example and keep it that way. If you can not go without a drink for a few hours then you may need detox? |
| Ratcatcher Wednesday, January 19, 2011: 6:44 am More from Ratcatcher | Great story. I didn't know about this proposed bill. It is apparant that the state fair board is only interested in making money. Isn't that why they extended the fair by 4 more days last year? I have already written to my state reps and encouraged them to vote NO. I urge everyone else to do the same. I don't go to bars because I don't want to see drunks acting stupid. That is my choice. What choice will parents have? Miss the state fair or risk the safety of your kids by taking them around drunks? Have the powers that be considered the cost of extra security personnel at the fair just to deal with the drunks? Bad idea all around. The fair is for kids and families. The alcoholics can drink when they get back home. |
