Mr. Doug Arthur,

I was as giddy as a school boy waiting for you to file! I must admit, Ed may have the perfect campaign slogan for you! "The peoples choice" I promise to do my best to show my friends/neighbors the promise of your political candor and those like you!

With that being said...the big question for me know is if I can make it to may without pulling my hair out!

Well, I will take the good news of Doug throwing his name in the hat with my morning coffee!

Go Doug Go!

KennyD,

Didn't you mention from and earlier post that you work with Doug? Will he run for Mayor in 2015 as is rumored on here?.....After he wins this election of course!

Owl,

As far as Doug's political aspirations for the future, you will have to ask him. I can't/won't speak on his behalf. I'm by no means being rude, please understand.

I can give him a personal reference and say that he truly means what his statement says in this article.

Hey Doug, could you say something to somebody about removing the Christmas decorations from the light poles?

"THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE", if Mr. Arthur isn't smart enough to adopt this slogan, I may find me another candidate! Nice job, Ed.

Now is the time we put our $$$ and our shoe leather where our mouths are. Blog rants & fingers-crossed wishes won't win the race. Hopefully, Doug will organize an open meeting and announce the place & time so we, his lesser known friends, can get behind this effort.

I hate to wish my life away, but, Is it 2015 yet?

Arse:
With the help, and consideration, you've been given by present administration....can't believe your negative comments. I understand your close association with Doug; however, don't cast stones toward the ones you've worked with...and could work with in the future. Just my opinion.

It would be the "people's choice" -

Um....Not to be a prune, but, Doug Arthur is not "new" he has been in the council before and is running again. While I have nothing bad to say I did want to point this out. This is no different than Buskirk running, or another Bray or another Foley or another Manley, and on and on and on....

Just my opinion.

Reality Check,

You have a very logical point! I am glad that you brought that up. Doug was on the council for 8 years previously. During that time he was not afraid to buck the system or go toe to toe with the then-sitting mayor, if prudence called for it. This had unintended consequences for Doug in the last election. Doug lost by 5 votes, but it took a local school official (not knocking him) with the full support and lobbying efforts on behalf of our Local GOP to defeat him. Yes he is not new but, he was the unintentional fall guy for those of us who are not part of the "Good Ole Boys" club. His name is out there already, he has the best of intentions on behalf of the citizens of this town, and stands the best chance at winning! I would say this moreover because it's becoming more and more clear to your average citizen of Martinsville what happens to you when you are not in the "Clique". I hope this election shows that these recent statements of mine are true!
