Liberty,
I appreciate your response to my questions and concerns. After reading your link I have an additional set of questions/concerns. This link stated that most charter schools will require 2-3 years before a special education program is even established. How do we even know if upon waiting the 2-3 years if their special ed programs will be any better than the public ed special programs? It will probably take 10 years for any charter schools to have a special ed program that is effective. In the mean time, what are the schools to say to parents with learning disabled children who have basically become collateral damage in this holy war between schools? It's intolerable now for LD kids. What will it be like when schools are competing for optimal standard test scores? Will LD kids simply become the "undesirables" that schools are trying to eliminate much like the Nazis tried to eliminate the "undesirable" Jews? I know this is coming across as melodramatic. This issue is a little too close to home. I just want to see change for the most vulnerable in our society, and I am afraid no one cares.

Pearl,

I appreciate your heart and soul felt concerns for those of us with custom needs in learning. The link was just an general approach of one education company. If they said for a new start-up school it would take 2-3 years before adding this specialized instruction then you I would expect 2-3 years.

To answer your question of "How do we even know if upon waiting the 2-3 years if their special ed programs will be any better than the public ed special programs?" I would say first How could it be any worst ? Since there are no union controlled politicians running the charter schools you can be rest assured they will have to comply with the required services or lose their contract. With the Government schools their is no way of making them comply to anything because the union controlled politicians ( School Board and their Administrators)have free Reine at running their schools the way they see fit. i.e. Each year the buildings across the state are inspected for environment dangers like mold and other contaminant. A very small percentage of the school system ever do anything about it because nobody has the power or political will to do it. Not that way with charter who don't have the cover of government. Remember, government doesn't have to follow laws but the private sector does. Beside under this bill it would be your choice, government compounds or Charter schools. FYI the government system has been pushing (eliminating) us with challenges off on the the charter schools for sometime now in areas who already have the charters. Just like you said about the Nazis tried to eliminate the "undesirable" Jews? The result is those charters even though heavily weighted with required custom education still test equal or above the Government compounds.

you said :" This issue is a little too close to home. I just want to see change for the most vulnerable in our society, and I am afraid no one cares."Pearl I am in full agreement with you. We too have some thing here close to home and caring for the need of the most vulnerable in our society that the government and the unions will never care about is what drives me to NOT EVER GIVE UP.

Here's the way I test the government unions motives. If a union member pays $700 + per year of their family income to causes like killing of the weakest and the sexual exploitation of the little ones in their class by talking about them having sex and making them talk about their private parts to strangers then, How in the world could you or would you trusts them with any child that's more vulnerable than most. Those in their camp feel that's what their support for abortion is all about. So, what choice do you not make ?

Pearl, you know my first choice for childrens, Moms and Dads is to home-school and not ever try to mimic or teach the way the unionized government system tries to. That's the most effective way and results in the best educational out come and character train, and adult preparation of all forms of education. That's the only sure way to insure the best loving care and education of any child, custom needs or not. It builds good strong characters in all the family members, not just the children.

Don't be afraid anymore Pearl, God is in the act of making this possible for all children. All Glory be to God The Father.

Peace:)

Thank you Liberty for your response. I appreciate your time and compassion for answering my question. Having a bad day-I'm a little on the dramatic side.
