WMS has academic probation hearing

Did you not read the part that said maybe my daughter disrespected the teacher one too many times? That obviously indicates I was well aware that my daughter had previously disrespected the teacher. At least I'm a parent who's willing to admit my child was part of the problem. Now that I rethink my comment, let me add for clarification that even once is too many times for a child to disrespect any teacher, authority figure or adult. This is EXACTLY how my child was raised, but at that age they do try & push the boundaries. She finally straightened up, but the teacher wouldn't let it die. Wouldn't it just be great if we could program our kids to behave exactly like we wanted them to according to some manual? Newsflash, Arse, that's called a robot - so excuse the hell out of me for not giving birth to a freaking robot! Can you ever forgive me? I'll have you know that during that ordeal, rather than coddle & baby & warp my childs mind by making it seem like it was the teacher with the problem, I continuously asked her what else had happened that I didn't know about because it seemed likely that there was more to it...more that she had said/done to the teacher that I never knew about. The teacher refused to let it die even after I felt fairly certain my daughter wasn't doing anything else because she had already been removed from her class. I did it so the focus could return to her education. And it did. End of story. If I truly felt my child had been "victimized" by a teacher, why would I have allowed my son to have the same teacher? Of course someone like you probably thinks I was hoping the teacher would find out my son was "her" brother so I could pitch a fit if he was "targeted" too, right? Well, I'll have you know I have raised my kids right & I am not one of those people, thank you very much. My point was that the teachers seem to have a certain mentality that lead them to focusing on a discipline issue instead of the job at hand, which is teaching their students - no matter what has happened in the past. Instead they act like the students are their competition and once you've wronged them, you had better watch out because they are truly out to destroy you. I've seen it happen other times too. Thank God my son didn't do as much of the boundary testing at school as my daughter did. He doesn't even do that at home, save the rare lie or talking back on occasion (which isn't even monthly, let alone daily or weekly). Hmmm...now how is it that I could have one really good kid & one former problem child who straightened up yet I'm a bad parent as your post implied? I don't think you know your arse from your head, and it was probably the hole in your arse that was talking because what you said was BS. |
| artie1958 Monday, February 21, 2011: 4:42 pm More from artie1958 | Yes, it certainly sounds West is getting the short end of the stick from some of you! Not everyone feels the same! Our family is not originally from Martinsville and our children both have and will go to WMS....Quite frankly...my question is.. How do some of these students get out of Elementary school? WMS is suppose to take all the blame for students coming in at a 4th grade reading level? Give me a break! It seems to me...We should be taking a closer look at our Elementary schools! Do you really believe these kids are going to excel in a setting designed for learning new things as opposed to starting with the basic fundamentals?! My son went to WMS and was given more help and support that I could have ever have dreamed of! I would take those "'more experienced" Teachers any day! I would truly like to see the "old discipline" return too! It is not up to the school to raise our children...make sure they have eaten, make sure they homes, (which some of the worthless parents ought to be thankful WMS does this), kids get left with no rides....Teachers and aides address this also! Hmm...I wonder if the staff should get a bonus for doing these things!? You know our teachers are so well compensated for their years of schooling and effort to help the needy children whom have been tossed around, and whose parents feel schools are" babysitters"! My son certainly had his share of detentions, ISS, I even signed consent to have him paddled one year! I am proud of it too! He was never singled out, or picked on by the staff! Yet...It was this so called "terrible Mrs. Lipps" who led the way on making sure he became an oustanding student, and a fine Young Man! I will also give great credit to Gary Dean, Rob Helms, Ms. Kempe, Mr. Collier, Mr. Panye Mrs. Meyer, Mr. Hankins, the resource dept. Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Applegate, Mr. Moore, Mrs Baine, Mrs. Payne, Mr. Carter...and many more I have not named! And quite frankly...as I recall...a lot of these teachers and aides have been there for many years! I would take them any day over some of the teachers who are" fresh" out of college! I do not believe any teacher, young or experienced should put up with any of these kids Self entitled, disrespectful, smart mouths! If they are not there to learn, than these kids should be considered a" distraction" to the kids there to learn! These disruptive kids need their own school! Teachers have no recourse with the kids who cause chaos in the classroom! "No child left behind" ....well....no child who wants to learn and act like a Human Being! West Middle School...Mrs. Lipps! Keep your head up and keep doing what you're doing! Great job Staff! |
