It will be a nice showcase for Martinsville. I think it falling in line with the Indy 500 and it’s anniversary is great timing. |

Thank you Sharyn for all the good work you have done for Martinsville. Your love for this City and the time and effort you put in will be sorely missed. The best of all wishes to you and Eric. I hope our paths will cross often. You will be truly missed Doug |
| Funny Tuesday, February 22, 2011: 3:11 pm More from Funny | This sounds great, but we already have racing in the streets. Just watch the City Police and County Sheriff when they are making a run. They do about 80 on Morgan Street all the time. |

| To The Point Tuesday, February 22, 2011: 4:08 pm More from To The Point | No Doug! It's called Police Cars? |

| John Q Public Tuesday, February 22, 2011: 6:06 pm More from John Q Public | The city pitched in $2000 to the academic decathalon team. Didn't the school board just approve $750,000 for the football field? |
| Sunny Tuesday, February 22, 2011: 7:42 pm More from Sunny | John Q Public, Regardless of whether or not people like your comment, you have a very solid point. |
| Sharyn Kersey Wednesday, February 23, 2011: 6:20 pm More from Sharyn Kersey | Doug, my friend: Your kind words mean so much. Eric and I do indeed love all things Martinsville and leaving my position with the City is very bittersweet. I wanted to be the best cheerleader for Martinsville and told it's wonderful story every chance I had. Our Mitchell office officially opened today with the Congressman first spending his morning with the Senior class at Martinsville High School-I was the cheerleader who wanted Congressman Rokita to choose MHS for such an important visit with these young future leaders. Dr Furniss, Mr Alkire, Mr Taylor and Mr Heacock made it happen on short notice and were gracious hosts. The 4th CD is 200 miles long with lots of High Schools but WE got him today! I will very shortly be announcing our mobile office hours and Mayor Deckard has offered space at City Hall for the local constituents to bring their questions and concerns, observations and comments to their Congressman. So, I'll Be Back! Thanks again, Doug, and thanks for your own love of our City. As the lyrics say, "This is OUR town!" |
