I am so sorry you decided to enter this primary. You said yourself you had talked to the Mayor and told him you wouldn't run against him. This turned out not to be true but we are to trust you to be truthful about everything else? You say the Mayor has done a good job on Economic Development yet that is one of your platform points? Huh? Has your ego gotten in the way of good sense? "To the victor goes the spoils". You need to remember that when you are not successful and you want Mr Deckard's ear, free auctioneering for one of your causes, a speaker for a meeting, or any other favor that is asked of the Mayor over and over and over. Knowing when to pick your battles is an important life lesson. Why would you pick this one? Maybe you'll be ready to be Mayor someday but this isn't the time nor was this the way to do it.

Give Me A Break,
I'm afraid ole Danny Boy may have been influenced by a couple of insincere instigators and he's swallowed their rhetoric like a cyanide capsule. With the same effect I'm afraid.
You should have taken on Deckard 2 first and Deckard 1 second. Not that either would have gained you very much, but at least there would be less shoe leather involved in canvassing Dist 5.
But best of luck as an independent contractor with the R-T.

Give me a break,
I appreciate your thoughts. In my own defense I will state this. One of the people that insisted that I do it is someone that you trust very much. It was not an easy decision to make, but I believe a neccesary one.
Yes, I agree with the direction the mayor has started us down as far as economic development. What is wrong with agreeing with that aspect? There are many things I do not agree with.
That is all I have to say about that. Now if you are expecting me to get nasty with you or Phil, sorry, I will not go down that road. I will defend myself in the cleanest and best way I can, but that is all.
Have a nice day.

I am curious in this race as to who the deliverer of the honey potion to Mr. Stewart was?
Mayor Deckard from what I have mentally deciphered is perhaps at the pinnacle of his political success with the behavior of Martinsville voters... Like it or not... The word vindication from his previous victory speech about himself and his family propelled him to leap into the office with renewed vigor. There is a bounce in his step as he is poised for another round.
I have been watching how careful he has played his hand with both the citizenry and the Republican party, and have witnessed very colorful, political moves. That is his Ace in the Hole against his opponents.
I am sorry Mr. Stewart as pleasant of a human being you seem to be I don't foresee a favorable outcome for you.
I also can't see either Stewart or Spina, taking enough votes away from Deckard to bolster Buskirks dwindling support. I am not saying that is what Mr. Stewart or Mr. Spina is there for, but it would not surprise me if this is the utmost desire and hope for SLB.
Mr. Hogan seems like a kind man, and is probably smart enough to do the job. Alas, history is always cycled to repeat itself with an intermittent break. Martinsville = R Not D. I don't believe this will be the time for that break.
Arse, I might not be so sure about Mr. Fergusons chances as you have previously stated. I'm still scratching my head on that one. None the less, in the end nothing about this race will surprise me. Entertaining it shall be!!

I forgot to add that either Mr. Stewart or the Ronald Hawkins left out SLB's cousin the former president of the council in regards to family matters in our local political machine.

I'll speak for my self and my family. There is no other candidate with the honor, credibility and character to vote for. Mr. Stewart is the real thing and every city employee knows that. Danny has more knowledge of how this town should honorably be run than anyone else.
No smoky backroom under the table dealing and making a leach pod for family members to live of of but for once, one of us, someone who up-right and does the right things not because they are popular but because they are right.
I've said my piece now it's up to you, are you finally going to be part of the solution or perpetuate a very old problem ? This town doesn't need any more fat cat politicians. This town need one of us who actually work for a living and knows what it's like not to get a raise.

Just a clarification, as a city employee, I can promise you not every city employee knows, as you said, "There is no other candidate with the honor, credibility and character to vote for. Mr. Stewart is the real thing...", nor do we collectively believe it. He may have his supporter(s), but he/she must be a very silent minority.
Just because you've tapped yourself "Liberty", please don't take any when it comes to making statements about what I know.
And to assure there is no room for error, let me say that Phil Deckard has my support for mayor.

I was just giving my opinion of what would be best for our community and don't wish to get caught up in the politics. I guess I assumed that since the Mayor took a 10% raise this year while the city employees ,after inflation, lost money that they would vote another in. But you are right, we can only speak for ourselves. Regardless of whose in office God will still have control of our lives.
Hope I didn't offend you.

More from The Mayor
Thank you for your support, and comments. It's a sad shame that certain "bloggers" have so much knowledge, on all aspects of our administration and city government in general....but, in three years leading up to Primary have never darkend the doors (or vary rarely) of the Mayor's Office, or City Hall Council Meetings, to voice their opinions/agreement/disagreement and/or different ideas on any subject. Their "lame" excuse of.."it doesn't matter or afraid of being singled out (?)", is just that! LAME! Attendance at
one or two of these meetings, in my opinion, is not enough fuel to make so many misinformed statements. I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with me on any one subject. But, as I've tried to promote...let's talk about it, hear all the sides, then AGREE to DISAGREE and (from that) perhaps we all can learn something. And, yes....I have had my mind changed on many occassions after hearing something from another knowledgable person. But, this process is as old as time itself. It apparently will never change but, I expected that. I'm ready to stand by my decisions, and those of my City Council, and will speak freely to anyone who has a question and/or idea. Mayor's phone number is (765)342-2861. (P.S. don't waste your time with anonymous letters or phone calls if you expect an answer.) Thank you! Mayor Phil R. Deckard

Mayor Deckard. Some free advice. Don't debate on this site the people whom you are referencing. You don't need to get pulled down in the muck and mire that is the wallering place of couch critics. Its entertainment for me, but I don't have a dog in the fight. Stay the course

Liberty, keep campaigning for Danny and watch the people flock to the other candidates.
Danny, run away from this 100% certified lunatic. You are better than this.
Liberty would you like to have a debate for charity?
