Asked if another mayoral candidate encouraged him to file the complaint, Rohland declined to comment, saying he didn’t want to point fingers

Waylon take it away!

Former Mayor Shannon Buskirk has been enjoying his job as a program manager for the Governor’s Task Force for a Drug Free Indiana

Ahh...the "Hatch Act" I take it that Mr. Buskirk is some sort of private consultant for the Governor. Thus not actually employed with the State of Indiana? Regardless...What a loophole!!
Excuse me while I try to take it all in.

I am sorry that Ms. Myers won't be able to partake in the upcoming election.

It is all based on who you know! There is always a loop hole brought into the light when someone doesn't like a person, activity or what not that is happening. Then all at once voila - The Hatch Act is presented. Give me a break. Why make a stink Rohland if you weren't prodded into doing it? You have nothing to gain right? There are less than few that want to do the right thing in politics these days. Every politician has an agenda! I say it smells like the city dump on a very hot summer day!

They let Rahm Emmanuel run and win for Mayor of Chicago, when clearly he hadn't resided in Illinois for over a year. I say let Spina run, and let the voters decide. Honestly, who would want to win on a technality, nevermind, were in Martinsville.

Voter,

In addition to your recent inquires into the realm of ironies; how does one even run for re-election? It's not that uncommon in all aspects of employment between the private sector and the public.

Example:

Some employers say that they have board policies against nepotism. While an employee's relative cannot work under the same employer said employee's relative can work at the same place even together as long as he/she is a "Contractor" or under a subsidiary. Hence...they aren't working for the same company.

If one wishes to contest it with a good attorney and with a judge that might bite down on the interpretation of the legislation there might be a loophole for that person. If my understanding is correct it is only in a "Partisan Election". However without the R behind your name to draw support from the majority of the electoral body in Martinsville the Mountain would be steep for an independent.

I don't have the patience of a legal analyst to sift through all the jargon of this Hatch act. Your question about the sheriffs department is quite fascinating.
Again...loopholes.

Why need rules? I don't know about this particular situation and I suppose it can be sorted out, but really folks, do you want no rules? Can you imagine the chaos? Residency rules are usually pretty straighforward and not too hard to understand. If......if Mr. Spina was aware of the residency requirements before filing to run, he doesn't meet the requirements and chose to run anyway, I would be concerned about his fitness for the position.

Our fathers and grandfathers left us this land that they called America. Ronald Reagan called America: " A shining city upon a hill." Let us endeavour to make Martinsville a shining city in the valley.

And just as every winters slumber must give way to the warmth and rebirth of the coming Spring, so too must this chapter in the annals of our journey.

My fellow Artesians, it is time to turn the page.

“This is nothing personal against him (Spina),” Rohland said. “I thought it was the right thing to do.

“If I voted for someone and found later that that person was not eligible, the vote would have been wasted.”

It is extremely rare for an individual to go out of his/her way to do something simply out of principle or conscience, if there isn't something to gain from it. Especially in our little diluted political world.

There is always an Ace in the hole when a political move is made. It may not be personal, but it's always political. One may make a small sacrifice for now to hook a big fish later. Yes Mr. Rohland, I am not sure if your intentions are to rub elbows with the elite or society, or in some way to finally gain employment with the local police department. I am curious how much time will pass before you show all of your cards, and how much you are willing to bet before the end of the hand?

A while back, I started to read a new book that had just came out. It was a pretty thick book, around 800 pages. After 8 days of reading I finally finished the first chapter(long chapters, just not very many of them). Well then it took me another 8 days to read the second chapter. Well, after reading the second chapter, I decided to read it again just to make sure of what I was reading.

After 4 days of reading, I realized why I didn't like the second chapter. Now by this time I had forotten what the first chapter was about so I started to read that chapter again. Again, after 4 days of reading, I realized why nobody liked the first chapter.

Then I started thinking about the two chapters. Trying to figure out why I didn't care for them all that much. The book is from a highly rated author. Then I realized, both chapters were almost identical. Sure, they were written a little different, but they both said the same thing, just in different styles. One chapter was very much up front and direct with the character having the attitude of; if you don't like it, oh well. The other character in the other chapter was a little sneaker about it. This character was nice up front but did alot of the same things the other character did, but in a way that wasn't so obvious.

So, as it has turned out, both characters, with different approaches, had the same attitude and arrogance about them with the same goals. Maybe you have read this book too.

Well, my friends, I think we should start a new chapter.
My fellow Artesians, it's time to turn the page.
