I agree with both statements, but in this situation why were the parents allowing their daughter even have a 16 year old for a boyfriend? Why was she allowed to be with the 25 year old? In other words what were the parents doing?!!! If my 12 year old daughter told me she had a 16 year old boyfriend the relationship would end immediately and she would be under lock and key. Plus I wouldn't even allow her to hang out with anyone that was that age or older. What young man did was completely wrong and he should be held accountable. In this day and age you don't have sex with an underage child even if they are a willing partner.

I'll go a step further and ask why the parents aren't being charged with neglect of their 12 year daughter. A one-time incident could happen to even the best of parents but for this to have been an ongoing thing that happened 10 times is inexcusable. Arse, I will help you sharpen the blade.

I agree with everyone. However, for Ratcather, I think that children are very good at thiding things from their parents. I was 12 years old once and hid all kinds of things from my parents. I agree whith the question about what have the parents been doing that they had blinders on for so long, but parents work nowadays. Twelve year olds are looking for any boy to make them feel special. So when some disturbed 25 year old comes along and makes them feel special and like they are the only girl in the world. Twelve year olds eat that kind of stuff up. In this case, I would say that the older boys parents clearly did not teach him what is right and wrong. However, he is amn and can make his own decisions, even the bad ones.
