Phelps charged with five felonies

I haven't been involved with just one school for some time. When I need information i ask from my personal pool of teachers and student but most are scattered and works ok because I look at that system and not just one school. I have posted a interview a while back of a college entrance councilor who was giving tips about homeschooling applying to their university. One of the things he mentioned was the high percentage of students coming out of the union-government ed system that needs to take remedial basic ed classes to catch up to expected levels before taking college level courses. This is just an continuation of what your talking about with middle school getting under-educated student mis-passed to a higher grade and the high-schools will say the same. The colleges are having the same problems and the whole world recognizes it. Oh ya, about the college entrance councilor talking about how most are having to take high-school remedial classes to catch up ? He note this usually isn't the case with home-school entrants and is a plus in their acceptance. I thank you for you insight and mutual care for children. Peace and blessings :) I will use this to promote parent to go and learn what homeschooling is about. I hope our community older students who are now parents will take time this spring and summer to go visit one of the many home school conventions around the Midwest like the one in Indianapolis this year (see below) "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Psalm 11:3 Come join us for the 26th Annual IAHE Home Educators Convention to be held at the Indianapolis Convention Center on Friday & Saturday, June 3rd & 4th, 2011. We are excited to be featuring an outstanding speaker line-up; including Michael P Farris, Kevin Swanson, Dr. S.M. Davis, Isreal Wayne, Dr. John Whitcomb, Allen Wolfe and Joyce Herzog as our special needs expert. Our exhibit hall will be chocked full of your favorite vendors and some brand new ones this year. If you are new to home education or just thinking about the possibility, be sure to check out our free Home Education Information Night to be held on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011. Want to know more? | nobodyimportant Wednesday, March 30, 2011: 6:01 pm More from nobodyimportant | This kind of situation has a way of bringing out the worst in people. It may be that compared to other places some of us have lived, Morgan County is a pretty laid back, peaceful place and a shooting just seems so surreal. If you had to deal with this kind of situation nearly all the time, not just in your county, but in your community, even in the part of the community in which you live, there might not be so many fingers being pointed. What happened was a result of a heart condition. In biblical terms, Satan won the moment (or the days leading up to the moment) in young Phelp's heart. He had anger (a natural emotion), but the way he dealt with it is what we are discussing. Who contributed? Make a long list. Could he have had better up-bringing? Could people, including school officials seen it coming? Could the juvenile justice system in which he had experienced handled the priors better? Take you pick, but for the moment, focus folks. But for the grace of God, it could have been any of us. Have you ever hated someone? If yes, in Biblical terms you have committed murder. Have you ever looked at a member of the opposite (or same) sex with lust? If yes, you have committed a sex offense. Have you ever been envious of someone who had somethings you didn't? If yes, you have committed a sin just as serious as young Phelp's shooting. Stop trying to condemn the boy, his parents, the schools, the courts. Understand what has happened is a result of a sinful heart, the same kind of heart that each of us possesses. The only difference is what we do with that condition. None of us can change young Phelps. Not his parents, not the schools, not the courts. What each of us can do is change ourselves. It is amazing what happens to people who are close to a loved one who finally gives up trying to run his or her own life and accepts Jesus as a savior. I have seen entire families come to Christ as a direct reaction to one member of the family taking that step. The solutions aren't going to be found in where people goes to school (sorry Liberty), where they live(preacher's kids get in trouble too), or what kind of juvenile justice system deals with the offenders (just try to get agreement on what that better system would look like). Just remember. When you point your finger at someone, take note of how many fingers in your own hand point back to you. Change yourself and you change the world. |
| Liberty Wednesday, March 30, 2011: 6:18 pm More from Liberty | artie1958, P.S. I apologize for implying you may have been derogatory by using the word poor. I do know what your talking about with the challenges of children who come from homes with problems. I've dealt with that first had before and it's not how much money they make because their are plenty of Kingdom Saints who try to live off of the bare necessities by choice as to not allow money to be a possible snare in their walk with the Lord. These families will generally not be part of the system but their only focus outside of following Jesus if their family and they will home-school. But the lack of money in the world does indicate many times some lack of effort, responsibility or it may involve unemployment and stress on the house which all of these things keep the child's minds off of or caring about learning. I don't expect any child to care more about what is being taught that their parents(older student) seem to care about them. I know these things and have lived them with youth. That's why I want to completely do away with the union-government system that molded the minds of these parents(older student) and their parents(older student) and their parents(older student). It has to stop and it has to stop now. If not, the affects will never be able to be reversed and our nation dies. I've presented a very feasible plan that removes the ongoing effects now and it teaches home-school as a required course in Middle school and high-school which side effects is parental training. Over time this will start to place the emphasis on parental responsibility from the younger up and ~ 10 years we will start to see a turn around in the parental responsibility in education regardless of how it's achieved. Even those children not being home-schooled will have and be better parents having being taught how to home-school. Since this is impossible with a union-government system that's th first part of the problem to start a new with. We only need strong enough parents(older student)to take a deep breath and do it. Yes we will have to turn a deaf ear to the union mob screaming and striking and as we have seem even violence is possible but after it's done they will learn to either be a part of the solution or move along to something they can actually put their heart into. My guess is those teachers who truly have their heart in it will still be their teaching and the ones who are in it only as a job for the money will be gone. And so go's the mob mentality of their union. Jesus says : " Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But accumulate for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." If you haven't read the plan let me know and I'll re-post it. I'm focused on solutions and sometime may seem insensitive to those who fight to keep the problem. As you can see this has become a comment section used heavily by the union teachers through out the work day. I don't expect them to do anything other than discredit, slam and make fun of that which they are taught to hate and fight. But I will say this, we do have many others who do agree because the last election produce a majority to start the process. I think now they are going to concentrate on the school boards where the responsibility for the problem lays to begin with. Peace :) |

| godschildalways316 Wednesday, March 30, 2011: 9:57 pm More from godschildalways316 | Wow. Liberty, I have been reading your posts and I am a bit concerned about the children you are home schooling. Your grammar is atrocious as well as your spelling. For example, your use of the word councilor. Here are some definitions for you: Council is a legislative body - usually at the municipal level. A councilor is someone who sits in the council. To counsel is to give advice. A counselor is one who advises. Counseling is the act of advising. You were referring to a COUNSELOR, not a councilor. You are entitled to your opinion about home schooling, but did it ever occur to you that some parents, don't have the ability to home school for one reason or another. Single parents by no fault or choice of their own, parents who both have to work to make ends meet, parents who are dealing with children who have learning disabilities that require someone specially trained in helping those children are just a few of the scenarios out there. I think the reason that most people take offense to your posts is that you come across as being highly judgmental and extremely offensive to the point of being prejudiced. With you its either your way of thinking or the other person is wrong. That type of mentality and attitude is pure arrogance. You appear to know quite a bit about the Bible and that is a good thing. Checking your attitude with God would be a good thing. Last time I checked it is Gods way or the highway and to be blunt, you aren't God. I can handle opinionated people, but you are just over the top. Please stop trying to force your opinions on other people. Expressing an opinion is one thing, force feeding it to people is quite another. You seem to have the have the last word and you always end with Peace. There would be a LOT more peace if you would adhere to what you SAY you believe in the Bible. Examine it more carefully, you are NOT holier than everyone else on here. Peace means free from strife, freedom from quarrels and disagreements, to be silent. You seem to be anything but peaceful in my opinion. |
| Liberty Wednesday, March 30, 2011: 11:24 pm More from Liberty | Wow 316, First you go through your complete condemnation of a 15 year old boy without mercy and now me, both without any knowledge or background. Judging the boy you said : He CHOSE to do what he did. he maliciously opened fire upon another individual when someone breaks those laws repeatedly as Phelps has doneAll without even knowing the boy or his parents or any real facts because they haven't been released yet. You only know what he has been accused of. I know this kinda stuff is easy to get caught up in and you probable didn't mean what you said. So enogh of that. I can see by the remainder of your resentment filled monologue about me, mocking me on everything from my faith to cheap personal shot about spell checker drop-down list errors etc ,that I have pushed some button that has caused some guilt laced resentment to build up. You don't know me or my motives no more than you know anything about that little boy you want raped for life. You don't know what I'm doing nor do you know why. You also don't know the history and reasons are or anything about homeschooling parents who are single, both work or do the best with special needs sons and daughters. So with all that lack of knowledge I offer you this. You change you handle to stop using God's name in vein and I'll direct you to all you'll need to know including the research, studies and history. But until then I will not address your handle again. The peace I reference is found only in Christ Kingdom by surrendering to His commands. Not in a worldly definition of everyone just get along. Jesus said He didn't come to bring peace but to divide, even ones own family, so who am I to worry about people taking offense to my posts as you say. Hope we'll be able to be friends :) I have heard all the excuses |
| godschildalways316 Thursday, March 31, 2011: 10:15 pm More from godschildalways316 | Liberty: Thank you for proving my point so effectively. There really isn't much more to say to you. I will however say this, I do not use the Lords name in vain, I am most definitely a child of the Most High King. I answer to Him, not you. I know what True peace is from God and it doesn't appear that with your constant arguing with people on here and the superior attitude you take that you really do know what it is. You obviously missed the entire point of my post to you. I will let the Bible sum up what I was trying to tell you. You create strife with your posts, all your posts. No matter the article you comment on, your comments always arouse anger in people and you seem to enjoy it. So here are a few of the many verses on that very thing. Proverbs 26:21 As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife. Proverbs 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. 1 Timothy 6:4 & 5 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself. So, as the Word of God so clearly says, I am going to withdraw myself from such a person. I do not claim to know everything, I am dependent on my Heavenly Father for my daily needs. Each day is a gift not to be wasted on arguing. So, I am going to bow out and leave you to your own thoughts and musings. I choose to walk away. Maybe you should do the same. I will pray for you. |
