That being said, the position of these officers (should) be held to a higher state of accountability. Their actions are meant to be examples for not only their brothers in arms, but also for the citizens who rely on, trust, and should respect them. Not holding officer Kautzman accountable would only send a message that falsifying information and perjury is acceptable. Disregarding any rights of the accused. Officer Kautzman was expected to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. How many other times officer Kautzman has perjured himself may never be known. But he was found to be guilty in this case. Just because he was never caught before should have no baring on the severity of officer Kautzman's sentence. Murder is murder whether it be your 1st or 101st. |
