B.S. What lies, students stated that they in fact did see the individual right outside the window. Another student received a note stating, "you're going to wind up just like Chance, only dead". I am ashamed of our school Admin. Martinsville does NOT practice active shooter training drills in the school. Why don't one of you reporters ask when they last did practice them? Mooresville and Monrovia practice them. Facts are facts!! Do the lives of our students not mean more to you? Perhaps you're in the wrong line of work. This is definately a case of neglect of a dependent".

I have talked to a student at the school and what actually happened was a teacher at the school misidentified a NEW student as a student that has just recently been expelled since the shooting. I'm glad the school went into lock down to make sure. As far as Mooresville schools go, you can actually walk right into their elementary schools to pick up a student during the day (doors are unlocked). At least at Martinsville the doors are locked and you have to be buzzed in by office personnel. Seems a little more secure in the Ville.

It's a waste of law enforcement resources. MSD needs to get some plans in place, and some leadership that knows what they are doing.

Each generation of union teacher trained parents over the last 50 years have progressivle become less and less responsible in traing their children. That's a non-disputible fact. We now have as our own government accepts as a completely failed education system that the world laughs at and a nation of irresponsible parents.
We don't have another generation to trow away. If the union leeches aren't removed If this system isn't shut down and changed to remove the bad influence and failure of that system now our nation will have collapsed into non-reparable social collapse.
Recently reported numbers show that in the US there are as many Government workers as there are manufacture workers. Half takers and half makers. The problem is our nation is collapsing because government workers don't produce anything. Not one dime is gained for our nations. No contribution to the nations coffers. Yes, I know under this socialist/welfare services are performed but they don't only not bring in money but after you take what little income tax they pay back they put this nation into more debt to about 80% of each government worker paycheck. These are only public facts here. So in bad times instead of doing things to encourage corporations to create productive jobs that will increase tax base revenues for the government all we have done is borrowed money to hire non-producing welfare jobs that will only crash the nation as is now being proven out.
Now, this isn't my opinion folks, this is the government tell us this. All those who wanted to improve the failed education system and close schools that fail children was slammed, demonized and protested against by those teachers who hold these welfare jobs and told us they don't care about the students education but just their paycheck. They even got our own mayor to stand up for the same.
As a nation we need to do away with massive numbers (at least %) of these welfare jobs that's crashing and bankrupting out country and lower our standards of living so we can compete on the world stage for manufacturing jobs. I suggest we start by making all teaching jobs non-government welfare jobs and turn that task over to private industry.
Why even consider teaching a child to to anything if he has no future to use it.
It's easy for a unionized teacher to become vile and call names and insult and act like the children they teach but every time I ask what they would to to fix the failed system not one has ever had an Idea.
But everyone of them have dumped on our children and protested education improvement just to keep their failure in place. That is not acceptable nor is it respectable. The masquerade is over. This is not a little union game, these are our children's live you think you own. I sympathize with the situation you are in. You were deceived and mislead by a union owned system that brought you into this system that they misleadingly call education. We a parents in this nation have to act like adults and take charge. The majority of those adults in this state have spoke and my recommendation is for the better teachers is to coop as a group and forum a private education company and approach the system to provide a new system.
Parents, don't let that residual guilt we all have had the first time we forced our child on a bus stop us from doing the right and responsible thing. I encourage you to seek a better and safer form of education and stop promoting failure. Our society is crashing and action is needed fast. You must be able to listen to the screaming and whining of the union teachers while you peel their figure off your child.
So, without blaming parents, children or teachers, Whats your solution to the failed unionized government education system in this country ? ...........?.............

Regardless of what happened, who asked who, who knows it all, saw it or witnessed it, our childrens education is suffering from this. We send our kids (west middle)to school for an education, what they are getting is grief and terror! I saw the fear in their eyes today as well as tears streaming down their faces. What quality of education are they getting from this, policemen in the schools, guns, helicopters, reporters, photographers and escorted to the bathroom by an adult. They are on academic probation already with ISTEP around the corner and yet we are asking these young minds to concentrate on their school work. How healthy is this for them mentally and emotionally. I find it hard for an adult to do well under this type of stress.I also believe it is way past time for the people who know more to step forward and say this isn't right! Do whats right for the students, enough of the good ole boy system! Channel 8 interviewed a school admin and asked why the parents were not notified, his answer was they( the students) have or some have cell phones....seriously, they should call themselves? That was about the dumbest remark I have heard to date! It's time to move some people around, parents dont settle for this with our childrens safety and education!

I know alot of us parents are to the point we do not even want to send our kids to school what good is that doing for our children's education,I as well as other parents want to know what is going to be done about all the games theses kids are playing and what kind of action is going to be taken to protect our children.
There need to be some kind of meetings so we all can figure out some plans to put into place, The cops can not be there forever so something has got to break.

It doesn't matter who said what, who did what, or whose fault it is....The fact is we are at a point where the children no longer feel safe in the school, the parents no longer feel secure sending their kids to school, and without MAJOR CHANGES none of this is going to change. It does no good to point fingers, but if someone says they will catch you and then they step back and let you fall on you butt, you are not likely to trust that person the next time. The same is true in this situation....It might not be the superintendents fault, it might not be the principals fault, but the fact of the matter is it happened on thier watch, the school board is going to have to make changes in order to rebuild some of the confidence that the community has lost in this system.

My first thought when I heard this today was that those kids must have been scared to death. I feel so sorry for all these kids. Life should not be this hard when you are that young. Hug them all tightly.

MCbacker, obviously those doors were not locked the day of the shooting now were they, and your gonna post everything is alright just because you talked to someone who goes to school there and suddenly you have it all figured out? Wow I feel better. NOT! Thats almost as absurd as the comment the admin said about the cell phones. Ignorance is truly bliss, try proof reading your comments and most importantly know what your saying not what you heard! The fact is our kids our being deprived of an education at West! So go ahead and get your groupies that swap lipstick across one anothers rear ends in the school system and start checking my comment as negative, I won't be losing any sleep over it! When your kid goes there and is adversly affected by it, then please speak!

C'mon guys, let Liberty alone. If we didn't have his (hers) off the wall and tunnel visioned points of view, this would be dull. You know, the thought just occurred to me. Could it be that he (she) really is just having the time of his (her) life posting in ways that irritate people? That makes more sense than what he (she) posts.

Patriot: For your information I DO have a child at West Middle School and it is my third child to go through that school. So I think I know a little bit about what is going on. I'm an involved parent that attends academic events, sporting events, keeps up on my child's progress on Skyward and talks to teachers and administrators as needed. Unfortunately, I wonder how many other parents are that involved in their child's school life. I was at West Middle all day on Friday, March 25th and it was amazing how many parents I had never seen any other time in my child's three years at that school. Do they only come out when there is a tragedy? I'm ticked as well as you that my child has to deal with all this instead of being able to focus on schoolwork. I can't believe that some kids find it amusing to write threatening notes or scrawl on bathroom stalls after what took place on March 25th. I hope they are dealt with accordingly! This is affecting the whole community, not just West Middle School, and we should all pull together to help get our children through this.
