Not that actual facts will open your hate-filled eyes, but...

Quote taken from http://www.america.gov/st/washfile-english/2005/September/20050915165123ajesrom9.768313e-02.html in regards to Japan's aid after Hurricane Katrina:

"Japan has pledged more than $1.5 million in private donations. The government of Japan has donated $200,000 in cash to the American Red Cross and some $800,000 in relief supplies -- from blankets to generators -- already are arriving to aid the most needy. Japanese firms with operations in the United States have donated some $12 million in total, including Honda Motor Corporation ($5 million), Hitachi ($1 million) and Nissan (more than $750,000)."

I can't believe what I read.....supposedly from a minister! You don't help people with the expectation that if the roles were reversed you would get aid.
I don't believe you will find that concept in the Bible. This has to be someone having some fun with us readers. At least I hope so.

Helping someone is an act of love. The kind of love that we are called to have is, in the Greek, agape love. That love is unconditional...it does not require being loved back. It requires no thanks, no response, nothing to make us feel good.

To the writer of this bigoted letter, if you are indeed a minister, I would suggest in the strongest way that you seek your guidance from the Word of God and nowhere else, and that you ask God for His forgiveness for the hate you have in your heart.

I'm so glad Jesus didn't ask himself "what would the Romans do if they were being crucified?" Instead He said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". I cannot imagine the terror the Japanese are suffering from right now with 7.x magnitude aftershocks and the threat of nuclear power plants emitting toxins in the atmosphere. Galatians 5:22 - 26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

While you're at it Pastor Bob, please study 1 Corinthians 13. I'm praying that God will open the eyes of your understanding. Judge not lest ye be judged.
