Phelps' attorney requests adult waiver hearing be closed

If you want to report the outcome of a trial report what they did to the Morgan County middle school caught secretly teaching children how to masturbate. . |
| countryfolk Monday, April 18, 2011: 5:35 pm More from countryfolk | Or maybe they could also print the outcome of this trial below, Liberty: APD: Home-school teacher molested child Obviously, the article I reference did not occur in Morgan County; however, it is just to show you that there are good and bad eggs in EVERY facet of society----even in homeschooling. I will admit that most of the folks I have personally known that homeschool are wonderful examples; however, there are those that abuse the system (just as there are those in public education that do the same). I am not so clouded in my judgement as to think there is only one right answer to educating my child. I have a child at the high school and at West, and my children have both excelled and are wonderful people. I feel that their education is a partnership between myself, my husband, and the schools. (By the way, my children have both told me that the ONLY "sex" talk they've had at school has been sex abstinence. Just thought I'd share. ) |
| Liberty Monday, April 18, 2011: 7:23 pm More from Liberty | Not sure what your point is. This thing below has nothing to do with homeschooling. And homeschooling has nothing to do with the Monrovia suit that is real. It doesn't matter what your children tell you that you strangely accept. It is about a real lawsuit reported twice in this paper and the it appears the school system has put a censorship in place ? Just encase you aren't just a sub-handle of someone who else who has already know this, this happened at a middle school in a class the middleschool called "CPR" where they was teaching Masterbation techniques. It's in this paper. Now what does that have to do with homeschooling. CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE ON SUIT EXPOSING SECRET MASTURBATION CLASS. The suit alleges these actions took place after the school system brought in an outside company, which gave members of the sixth grade a sex education class. The class was “misleadingly titled a ‘CPR’ class” and included a discussion of “masturbatory techniques,” according to the suit. |
| martinsville native Monday, April 18, 2011: 7:38 pm More from martinsville native | Absolutely nothing, Liberty----just as MY LINK I asked you to look at had nothing to do with PUBLIC schooling. (And just as MANY of your comments about the evils of public school are added on stories that have nothing to do with that topic.) In case you couldn't read my link, it was a link to an article about a homeschool teacher who molested a child in his care. Obviously not the norm, but an example of a bad egg. My children did not attend the middle school you are referring to in the old article from several years ago, and I am VERY involved in their education. I have read many of your posts, Liberty, and I've noticed that any time someone has evidence against one of your beliefs, you act confused. Are you that unwilling to admit that you could possibly learn something from those around you? All I was trying to do in my first post is get you to see that by spewing messages of "evil public schooling", you are failing to notice that there are evils everywhere. |
| martinsville native Monday, April 18, 2011: 7:54 pm More from martinsville native | By the way--accidentally used my husband's username the first time & just noticed it. :0) I do have a question for you, Liberty. On another story, you praise Ms. Frentz and tell her she's a good parent for standing up for her child, yet you question my parenting skills because I talk to my children about what they are learning at school and "strangely" believe them? And on yet another story---concerning the shooting at WMS, you say people shouldn't believe the principal's story or the investigators, but should instead believe the students. When is it ok to believe my children, Liberty? Only when they have something bad to say about their school? I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree on some topics. No ill feelings created I hope! :) |
| Liberty Monday, April 18, 2011: 8:23 pm More from Liberty | martinsville native, No bad feeling here friend. My statement about it strange when believing you child about sex things concerning schools and such. Just like the homeschool families that trusted someone else with theirs. I have experience with this one and I do offer advice solicited or not. Don't trust any body ever with your child. Always be suspicious, because a victimized child rarely will tell you if something is wrong. Yes, I have been studying the union-government ed system for years and do not speak of it with ignorance. If you still have children in school then you are young enough to take advice. You have seen the facts and numbers so you decide to blame me for them ? They have nothing to do with me. You must feel you can ignore them and blame someone else and then feel good about sending your children to them and trusting them which is the opposite advice given by the experts in child molestation and abuse prevention. Just a taste of reality below that I cut and pasted from a larger study commissioned in part by the US Dept of Education. ----------------------------------- Even with these shocking statistics, Shakeshaft found a lack of severity in consequences: • In one report in New York, there were 225 cases of sexual abuse by teacher. In all of these cases the offender admitted to sexually abusing a student but not one had been reported to the police and only 1% lost their teacher license. • In a 2003 report, it was found that 159 Washington state coaches were "reprimanded, warned, or let go in the past decade because of sexual misconduct" – and yet, "at least 98 of them continued coaching or teaching afterward.” • In a 2004 report, it was found that “many school districts make confidential agreements with abusers, essentially trading a positive recommendation for a resignation” (Kupelian 2006) Sexual Harassment Support reports: • About 15% of students will be sexually abused by a member of the school staff during their time at school In a survey conducted with high school graduates • 17.7% of males and 82.2% of females reported sexual harassment by faculty or staff during their school careers • Approximately 14% of those surveyed said they had engaged in sexual intercourse with a teacher. AAUW (The American Association of University Women) reports: In a national survey conducted for the AAUW Foundation in 2000: • Approximately 290,000 students experienced some type of physical sexual abuse by a member of a public school staff between 1991 and 2000. (NationMaster.com) From a survey given to 2064 students in 8th through 11th grade in 2002: • 83% of girls have been sexually harassed • 79% of boys have been sexually harassed • 38% of the students were harassed by teachers or school employees The AAUW did another study in 2006 that focused on the physical and emotional impact of sexual assault on the student: • 68% of female students felt very or somewhat upset by sexual harassment they experienced • Only 6% were not upset. • 57% of female students who have been sexually harassed reported feeling self-conscious or embarrassed. • 55% of female students who have been sexually harassed reported feeling angry. • 32% female students who have been sexually harassed reported feeling afraid or scared. This 2006 study also focused on the impact of sexual assault on the students’ academics and achievements: • 16% of female students who have been sexually harassed found it hard to study or pay attention in class. • 9% of female students dropped a course or skipped a class in response to sexual harassment. • 27% of female students stay away from particular buildings or places on campus as a result of sexual harassment Even with these statistics, it is difficult to be certain of the actual amount of sexual assault being committed by teachers to students. The majority of students who have been sexually abused do not report what is happening. The American Association of University Women (AAUW) did a recent study and found that only 7 % of students claimed having reported sexual harassment to a school staff member. None of the students talked to a staff member that was labeled a Title IX officer and 35% did not tell anyone, including people close to them (Sexual Harassment Support). ----------------------------------- If this isn't for you then it's for someone else who may think different about things. Just don't shoot the messenger. Peace :) |
| nobodyimportant Tuesday, April 19, 2011: 8:33 am More from nobodyimportant | There nothing positive that can be said about sex between an adult and a child. There are no justifications for molestations. Even down to innuendo as a form of harrassment. None of these things can be defended. Keep in mind that these are acts between people, not institutions. They can and do happen in the grocery store, the community park, the church, the library, the home. The act deserves our scorn, not the setting. |
| Liberty Tuesday, April 19, 2011: 11:15 am More from Liberty | Keep in mind that these are acts between people, not institutions. They can and do happen in the grocery store, the community park, the church, the library, No nobody, It not "these are acts between people" it's a child being physically and mentally raped by a teacher with authority and protection of a union. That's what it really is. I cannot believe you really have children. The authority that a teacher has over the student makes these crimes insidious. Sex crimes by a trusted person with authority over you is better termed as incest and that's what the effect this has on a large portion of children going through the union-government schools. They come into society so overly sexualized and morals free it sad. The number one kind of party on many college campuses these days is sex party's(orgies) and the same parents who subjected their child to lower level GEC's will also send them to these union-government universities. (upper level GEC's) Just a taste of reality below that I cut and pasted from a larger study commissioned in part by the US Dept of Education. Keep in mind that sex with a minor by and adult teacher is RAPE and Sexual harassment on a minor by a teacher is mental RAPE. ----------------------------------- Even with these shocking statistics, Shakeshaft found a lack of severity in consequences for the teachers. • In one report in New York, there were 225 cases of sexual abuse by teacher. None of the students talked to a staff member that was labeled a Title IX officer and 35% did not tell anyone, including people close to them (Sexual Harassment Support). ----------------------------------- Just to reiterate the fact that child rape of any kind by a teacher and staff with authority over them is not Just sex between people and should never be brused with that kind of softening effect. So what does this all mean ? To many to cover all but a few might be : 55% of female students who have been sexually harassed reported feeling angry. 55% of your girls you send to school will be mentally raped and suffer emotion scares from it. And that doesn't include the 35% that did not tell anyone.
And if you think anyone will tell you parents think again, Now you know why most belong to the union because it's the union that keeps the rapist jobs and keeps it quite. Thus just growing more and more. All these numbers will grow with time. Now some may say this can't be the same in Martinsville. Not our sweat little home town. I suspect that with our meth and drug epidemic, graduation rate, school violence and history of teachers clinging to their union like their life and career depended on it, I would say think again. Your child should be way to important to you to trust any non parent enough to give them authority over your child and blindly trust and teach them. God doesn't and that's why He gave them parents in the first place. We shouldn't get so caught up in a popular community that teaches us to ignore such a devastating reality. Regardless of what you do, do it for the health and spiritual well-being of your child. :) Just food for thought. Peace :) |
| liwms Tuesday, April 19, 2011: 12:42 pm More from liwms | I am horrified by what happened at the Monrovia Middle School. Please tell me that heads rolled over this insanity and that lots of people lost their jobs and the girls collected big bucks. Or do the clowns and inmates continue to run the asylum? |
| Liberty Tuesday, April 19, 2011: 1:49 pm More from Liberty |
I wish we could know but the union and government school system it's was kept from the parents and public. Only the government school system is exempt from having to give that information to parents and the public. I suppose you could sue them if you have enough money to match the taxpayers wallets they have an endless access to but most of us don't. If everyone just keeps on living in the illusion the schools fight so hard to protect all will be fine. Besides to do more than that is way to much work for the children's parents. Call the paper and ask why they didn't followup. The union would never allow the offending teachers to get in trouble thats for sure as the study I posted indicates. Peace :) |
| nobodyimportant Tuesday, April 19, 2011: 2:20 pm More from nobodyimportant | I'm gorging on foods for thought. Need a diet. The world is a dangerous place. Evil abounds. There is no physical safe place. Parents sexually abuse children. Do away with families? Bosses sexually abuse workers. Do away with work? Church employees molest children. Do away with churches? Carnival workers rape young girls. Close all theme parks? No person is denying that these kinds of things happen in schools. But the extreme (beyond extreme) position that because it has happened that it is cause for abandoning public education is absurd. You can't believe I really have children? I have children and grandchildren, all but one served well in public schools. If you play the card, "if you love your children you wouldn't let them go to those evil public schools', you malign, demean, and degrade. You may prefer to cloister your loved ones, attempting to prevent them from experiencing life with all of its good and evil. I don't. |
