Know | The original Interstate construction program in all of the states provided for 90% of the costs; design, land acquisition, and construction; to be paid with federal funds and the remaining costs, 10%, to be paid by the respective states. These percentages may have changed. There was, and still may be, a provision that in the event any of the states converted any portion of an interstate route to a "toll road" that ALL federal funds would be returned to the federal government for that section of the Interstate route. I decided in 2000 that I had enough of the "highway games" and retired! |
