Daniels: Debt threatens American dream
read more recent story comments Reader comments| abathar Friday, May 20, 2011: 1:12 pm More from abathar | I am still waiting for Mitch to come out and give his opinion on the recent ISC ruling that pretty much voided the 4th amendment last week. Will someone please ask him if he agrees with that decision or not? I've been on Mitch's side on more issues than against him, but if he agrees with their decision I will not support or vote for him next year if he runs. |
| Reality Check Friday, May 20, 2011: 2:13 pm More from Reality Check | I'm still waiting for someone to remind voters that he should be in jail for robbing the folks at IPL of their stocks when he sold his and profited millions. I'm still waiting for someone to remind voters that he sold a toll road, pushed daylight savings and has ushered in more government then less for the state of Indiana - look no further then his education debacle he calls reform. If the country wants to get out of debt, he shouldn't have directed so much spending when he was the OMB director under "W" - Remember, "the Iraq war will cost 50 billion" http://douthat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/03/mitch-daniels-and-the-iraq-war/ If this country wants to get ouf debt, it first must get out of the Middle East and everybody else's problems. If first must quit giving my tax dollars to the richest American banks and finaciers first and the working class, last. If this country wants out of debt, this guy could probably do it: Selling us off piece by piece to other countries and companies - killing labor rights and shutting down medicare/medicaid and Social Security. And, making FAKE/erroneous statistics all along the way (Iraq, Indiana Jobs, Lilly deals, and IPL stocks) Mitch the "blade" has done a great job of balancing Indiana's budgets on the backs of labor, educators, local governments (200% local tax increases he pushed) busting unions and pension/retirement plans. All in the name of Hoosier taxpayers. No jobs. No growth. No REAL problems solved. But, by God, we balanced a budget. Run Mitch, Run! And watch how fast the masses run from this shrewd, pompous, millionaire. Wake up America - there has never been a better time for an independent party then our time, right now. |

| Ratcatcher Friday, May 20, 2011: 11:14 pm More from Ratcatcher | What are the Libertarians considered? |
| nobodyimportant Saturday, May 21, 2011: 8:14 am More from nobodyimportant | There will be no political party that can gain and keep power. There is no "better" political party out there. Here is why. Even the two major parties know that they cannot keep whomever they call their "core" or "base" members happy. In order to attract enough votes to get and stay elected, they have to move toward the middle and away from their ideological roots. If the Republicans and Democrats can't do that, what chance is there that the Libertarians or the newbies, the Tea Party can? I submit, not a snowball in hell chance. Politics makes strange bedfellows. |
| Sunny Saturday, May 21, 2011: 8:53 am More from Sunny | Nobody important, I agree Ratcatcher, The Libertarian party call themselves "The real Liberals". They prefer VERY limited government involvement in most social, domestic, and economic issues. It's interesting. I would google them, check out a number of sites and see what you think. Reality Check, The "Tea Party" is an ultra conservative wing of the Republican party. They may look and sound independent but their true intentions are to keep the bulk of the right from drifting to close to center. |
| Ratcatcher Saturday, May 21, 2011: 7:00 pm More from Ratcatcher | I took an online quiz that says I am Libertarian! I thought I was a Republican that liked and admired the Tea Party. Am I crazy? Is there hope for me? |
| nobodyimportant Saturday, May 21, 2011: 10:03 pm More from nobodyimportant | There are some aspects of the Libertarian party that are attractive. Their position on the size ands scope of government is much closer to the ideal expressed by our founding fathers than of either major party today. Their mantra on individual liberty has good and bad news. For those who believe that drugs that are now illegal should be made legal and that abortion should be a woman's choice, this is the party for you. |
