While the event is a good one for Martinsville in general, the planning for residents and merchants who live and work in the area of the race course lacked advance communications and too many people were unnecessarily inconvenienced. Businesses that rely on street parking and easy access to their establishment were barracaded inside and lost sales as a result. Residents wanting to stroll had to find their way around the barriers with no directions.

The event organizers should coordinate with residents and business owners better next year.

I cannot speak on behalf of all merchants; however, I had the opportunity to speak with one. This particular lady informed me that it was a great day for business and that she would be opening up on Sunday, in which she is normally closed...

I am curious what the bulk of the merchants have to say when this is all said and done.

My ears did catch several people giving kudos to a one "Mr. Terry Buster" and others for their efforts to bring this attraction to Martinsville.

I am willing to make minor sacrifices in life... such as traffic delays/detours, (moving my car) for an event that is a benefit to the community.

Oh boo hoo you old fart. This is what's so wrong with the mentality of the old farts in this community. Complain and moan and cry if anything, and I mean anything, new comes along. Get over it. This gave all your kids something to do rather then burn recylce bins down or vandalize people's cars and homes.

To those who volunteered their time and energy, great job. Martinsville needs to enter the 21st Century at some point in time.

I agree my nephew raced in that race. It is very good for the community and it gives everyone something to do that is very family friendly. It puts money into the community just like travel ball does when you host a tournament.

Great event for the community of Martinsville! Things like this, when well planned, are good for exposure, as well as general well-being of our residents.

Thanks to all of those who put this on! Congrats on the creativity, and good luck in the future years luring more of these type of events!

Went and enjoyed the races. This was a first time thing so there were bound to be a few bugs. It was more important to make it a good track and a good experience for the racers so they want to come back again and again. Next year I'm sure things will go a little better for some of our grouchy townspeople! It was a good family thing to do in our little town....and it was FREE to spectators. I say Nice Job and bring it back next year!!!!
