| birdier Saturday, June 18, 2011: 11:53 am More from birdier | I have lived in the addition for 21 years one of the first homes in the addition. Les Manley developed and built many of the homes there. I asked Les why there was no parking on either side of the street and he told me the city mandated it. He said he didn't have room to make the streets as wide as the city required and in order to make the streets narrower he would have to have no parking anywhere on the streets. It was for public safety so firetrucks and ambulances could get through in case of emergency. One day last week there was a large box truck parked on one side and a car on the other and it was nearly too narrow for a small car to go through. My question is why has the city taken down the no parking signs on one side of the street if they mandated them in the first place? I don't think anyone is being singled out its just hard to drive around the block sometimes. |
