| artiefan Friday, August 19, 2011: 10:04 am More from artiefan | Purple, I agree wholeheartedly. Joe will be missed on both sides of the ball. However, the old adage, "Next man up" applies in this situation. Others have & will step in and shine. Go Arties! Beat Terre Haute South tonight! |

As you may have figured I am a Sormer South Panther football player and graduate. That was a while back and through the years i have become a bit of an artie fan, yet i still am a panther fan on gamenight. Good Luck this year except week 2 :-} and if we meet again in sectionals. I remember the days when we circled the Martinsville game on our schedule Nowadays the rivalry has lost its luster. Anyways good to see Arties are still a solid program. |
| artiefan Friday, August 19, 2011: 2:37 pm More from artiefan | Reminds me of the line from 'Hoosiers': Coach Norman Dale: I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. These six individuals have made a choice to work, a choice to sacrifice, to put themselves on the line 23 nights for the next 4 months, to represent you, this high school. That kind of commitment and effort deserves and demands your respect. This is your team. |
| ronschoolcraft Sunday, August 28, 2011: 12:38 am More from ronschoolcraft | Artiefan, I hope you realize that Joe couldn't play because of a (most likely) career ending nerve injury. His arm still goes numb at the slightest tweak and he may never be able to participate in athletics again. Quite a different story than that referenced from Hoosiers. As I always say, the anonymity afforded by the screwy screen names here make for some very bold comments from folks who don't know what they are talking about. Ronald J. Schoolcraft Joe's father |
| artiefan Monday, August 29, 2011: 2:09 pm More from artiefan | Ron, The movie reference alluded to supporting Martinsville Football for who IS on the team, instead of fixating on who isn't. There was no intent to downplay Joe's condition, or question his toughness or desire to play. As I stated in an earlier post (above), "Purple, I agree wholeheartedly. Joe will be missed on both sides of the ball." I understand your desire to defend your son; however, his lack of participation, and coinciding reasons, was not being questioned. The movie quote comparison was to build up the players who are on the team, and encourage them to step up. I apologize for offending you, but never questioned Joe's medical status or desire to play. Anyone that has watched him play knows that he was a valuable member of the team & will be greatly missed. |
